Might I ask what kind of lense and camera you use for your pictures? I have only been taking pictures of full size cars, and not sure how my gear would stand up to something so much smaller. I already struggle with focal length as is.

Some amazing pictures in there though!

orcadigital, I use a Canon T1i right now and for these pics a 70-200 F4 lens, with a 430ex shoe mounted flash. Since it's indoor the lighting is a constant battle, some are keepers, but only about 3 out of 5 since motion blur is an issue with slower shutter speeds in low light.

Thank you for taking a look at the pics!

I can't even imagine trying to do it in low light. One virtue of real car racing photography is indoor is usually not an option. Unfortunately it also usually means bigger zooms since you tend to not be as close.

I am running with a 55-200 VR lense on my Nikon and fairly happy. I'd like to step up to the new 55-300 VRII, but the holiday season is not a great time to be spoiling myself. Going to try to hit a couple rc races in the upcoming months and try my hand at it until I can get a car together and start driving again.

Again, great job! I'd kill for 3 in 5 being keepers. I blew through over 1000 images at the Petit LeMans and got about 100 I kept, maybe a dozen that I'd actually show to others, and 1 that was perfect.

Thanks!

Grant

Very cool!

This was from a flyover at the Talledega NASCAR race a few weeks back. Cropped and resized, but no post editing. They were moving!

Hey Jim some great pictures! Something to think about is maybe to check out the "Better Beamer" for your flash... if you have to shoot a longer distance it enhances the light... I havent had to shoot indoor RC yet as we dont have any indoor offroads locally... I know a lot of people use the BB for shooting raptors in the field....

A couple are not the great as far as optimum technically, but I really dig the composure, so I wanted to share them in spite of their lack of perfection.

Thanks for looking!
