Default Candy Candy Candy

These colors have been around since the creation of paint it seams like, but I don't see alot of them used so I thought I would try and resurect the CANDY style.

Sweet body. Anyone tried backing Candy red with chrome? Wondering if it gives an anodized look.

I have done chorme behind the candy colors and you can get a ano look but its VERY VERY difficult to get the candy color smooth enough to get the chrome to shine, the surface has to be super smooth to get that to happen. I have got it to work on micro bodies but not on 10th scale. The black lines are striping tape on the inside before paint really as a mask then after I was finished peal those lines and paint the hole body black under it all.

What brand paint did you use to achieve those colors?

The paints are AUTO-Air colors. You can find them at Higher end art stores or at www.bearair.com

If you look at the pictures form the Snowbirds you will see Ron Atomic's 12th scale CEFX body- the candy red spikes on it are candy red with chrome backing. They look great in person but Sparx is right you must get the candy smooth to get that reflection and it's hard to do if you don't know how because if you get it too thick then you loose the reflection but if you get it too thin then it's not smooth and the chrome doesn't work.
