I just finished spraying my first body w/ Faskolor and cannot find a straight answer about backing/sealing the water based paints to protect it from nitro fuel. I've always used Pactra and did have ot worry about sealing and protecting the paint from fuel. Basically what I want to know is can I spray Pactra over top of the Faskolor to protect the paint from fuel or will the lacquer based paint ruin the acrylic?

You can use faskote to seal it up I am sure you could use pactra on it I have used clear rustolem with great results too. Faskote you can brush in too if you have already pulle the window masks. Good Luck . Darrin

So I can spray a coat of White Pactra lacquer over the Parma acrylic and there wont be a problem?

Surely someone has sprayed Pactra over Parma. I dont have any Faskote and dont want to drive an hour to get some, but I do have 4 bottles of Pactra white/silver, I dont want to spray it on and ruin several hours worth of work.

Without something between the two, Pactra will attack the faskolor.

The best thing to use as a final backer is a 2 step process. Pick up some Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic and Rust-Oleum Crystal Clear Enamel. This can be gotten at wal-mart or home depot etc. When your done with your paint job and want to seal it, spray a few light coats of the Krylon. First coat should just be a misting. Let it dry and apply a second coat. After dry, do the same with the rust-oleum. This makes a very durable tough finish that stays pretty flexable and resists most fuel and other liquids.

Of course you could also try spraying the Pactra after the Krylon as well, but it may eat that as well. The pactra is a laquer based paint and is very strong.

Rustoleum crystal clear enamel in 3 heavy coats straight on to faskolor and no problems after a couple hundred bodies, works great for 3 bucks a can. It will dull chrome though.

So just regular ol' Rustolium or Krylon clear, sounds easy enough. Thanks for the help, I'd hate to ruin all that work backing it with the wrong paint.

You can get it at auto part stores like AutoZone, Wal-Mart should have it too. It is in a Rattle can.

I hate to dig up an old thread, but I have a question about this topic.

Just finished a body using createx, and I have a can of "Dupli-Color Acrylic Lacquer" Can this be used to seal the createx? Or should I use something else?

I wouldn't use lacquer on lexan. I read all these post and to clarify you can use the pactra spray bomb white to back faskolor with out any problem as long as you let it dry real good. I have been doing it this way for ten or eleven years now without any problems.

I use Rustoleum Crystal Clear Enamel out of the can and it works awesome and you can do a ton of bodies. Never had a problem and it protects great. I have done tons of bodies this way and it's reasonably priced to. I think it's under $5.00 at Home Depot, but I am in the Mid-West (St. Louis, MO) area. Get 6" of snow tonight, AWESOME, GET THE FOUR WHEELER/SNOWMOBILE OUT!!! thercwizard........
