Sparx, that shell still looks really good even if you did have a problem.

I've had the "black dust" issue come up before. I chalked it up to a static electricity. The body can become charged and the atomized paint will be attracted to it in random patterns. Or I could be losing my mind.

hmm, i thought of static electricity too, can the problem be i used a "toilet-paper" soaked in denatured alcohol to clean the body? Shouldänt be that either cuz i've been doing that for years..

Electrostatics would be the answer here. I could go through the whole physics explaination of this, but basically opposite charges attract. Did you clean the body with a towel of some sort on the inside before you painted it? This is similar to the whole "velvet on a balloon and then hair" idea. Though the paint didn't really spray everywhere, there were dust particles from the spray that were attracted the opposite charge of the body, and thus "stuck" to the body... Not too sure what you could do to prevent this, maybe paint in non cotton clothing, stay away from carpet, and clean the body with a polyster cloth or something...

None the less, good work everyone!

Here is a tip, I keep a clean(preferable new) terry towel handy and some denatured alcohol. After spraying a darker color, then before the next lighter color in the same area, wipe it out gently with a slightly dampened towel and alcohol.....It won't remove paint, only overpsray if you wait until it has dried(about 1/2 hour for Pactra).

Hope this helps, Jim, Winning Edge Designs, www.jconcepts.net
