I have to admit that i am using 3S soft packs because i can't find decent hatd case packs. I totally agree about the risk of fire. I had a lucky escape once when my car went off the track sideways. The battery took the impact and was bent out of shape. Luckily nothibg happened, i don't use it but it will charge up no problems.

Default Mods to 977e top plate

I posted this on the 977e FB page also.
I wanted to suggest a new top plate and servo layout that will give 977e owners the flexibility of using a larger range of battery packs as well as enable the batteries to be removed and replaced much more quickly.
The idea is to trim the sides of the top plate which will make it possible to lift the batteries up vertically off the bottom chassis plate. I envisage some type of bracket made so that both batteries can be replaced in one go.
Trimming the sides of the top plate will mean the steer servo will need to be mounted upside down using spacer blocks between the servo and the top plate to move the servo arm close to the bottom of the chassis.
If there is one thing the nitro guys have on us is that they can race for an hour if they want to, they just need to make a pit stop for more fuel. A local (nitro) club is having a 2.4 hour enduro before Christmas, i'd love to enter but it would just take too long to change batteries to make i t worthwhile.
Serpent, what do you think of my suggestion? Why not try it out. Better still, make a new top deck as suggested? Send it to me and I'll test it myself.

Sounds good. I'm getting the 1900kv tekin with the rx8 esc. Gearing will be determined soon but will not use the stock 14t- that's crazy and may melt my motor!

LRP ix8 600A esc works very well with this car. On 4s it is fast with the LRP 2200 motor. Looking forward to trying it with the 2600 one soon.

I am curious, everyone is saying 4s and 6s batteries. Are they using 2 2s batteries for the 4s and 2 3s batteries for 6s. I currently use a single 3s battery for my 1/8 scale dirt late model that has the Castle Creations momba max esc along with the Castle Creations 1/8 2200 motor. I noticed that Hobby King has a few 2s batteries that use the 5mm bullets for a decent price. John

I want one of these. They are a phenomenal looking car. Is this class not very popular? Looks like engineering work of ART!

This class is more popular in Europe -Germany and Switzerland mainly. Most those guys are the reason Serpent, Shepherd and Capricorn came out with cars for the class. They run ~800$ TTB motor / Esc combo's on 6S. It has potential to grow in the US, if cost is kept in check i.e. run 4S up to 2000kv. This class is also the reason the Buri-Racer was born, because it was getting too expensive, and the Buri-Racer offers a great alternative with a simple chassis.

We've just added the class to support the nitro 1/8 section. First national is this weekend with 8 drivers booked in vs 50 odd nitro racers. We hope the class will grow now that we actually have national level recognition!

Phenomenal looking? Yeah! Wait till you drive one!

Has anyone tried using 2 x LRP 11.1v 4300mah 45c 3 cell lipos Antix?
looks like they are the only 3 cell hard case packs available in Au suitable for the
977e.
