Default New to 1/5 scale, advice or tips are appreciated!

G'day ladies and gentlemen

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the wonderful world or rc's like I am

Rescently on the weekend, I decided to upgrade from my nitro cars and went to electrics, after buying an e revo and sc10rs I wanted something more

So I tried the ar drone to have a feel of flying an object, wasn't too thrilled

Then I came across a FG modellsport 1/5 scale on eBay

After some research I found out it was an older model from the FG 1/5 line with single shock upfront and a old zenoah g2d 23cc,
Surprisingly, after all these years, the old motor starts up and idle and runs just like a new motor should, no issues whatsoever

I'm planning on getting the newer zenoah 29cc and replacing the g2d (as I'd like to store it away and make it one rare and genuine old school zenoah engine)

If anyone has any knowledge, with the bigger motors, do they mount the same as the smaller engines do? (As the other shell or overall size be the same?)

I would think so, as the displacement increases the internals are bigger, but the overall outside size would be the same to accommodate alot of universal fitments

Ill be uploading photos soon, and will be showing you my new pride and joy!

Thanks for reading and I enjoy the company of other RC enthusiasts and gurus

Thanks for the reply guys

I have abit of a dilemma tho

Looking up specs of the g2d zenoah they are 2 bolt engines

After changing the carby adaptor tonight I realised it was a 4 bolt engine
Could it be someone has changed the motor and just used the cover from a g2d?

It also has made in Japan stamped on the side

It goes like stink, so I'm still pondering.

Posting up pictures now

that motor still a GD version, by the pics. it looks like you need to change the head gasket. BTW, the 230 0r 240 will also work for that car...
