Default Baja 5sc questions

Hi,
My friend has a new baja 5sc ss that he has just built. He has a few questions he want me to ask for him.

after break in do we need to worry about temps like we did with our nitro cars? Is there a maximum temperature it can go?

One other thing. When tuning how do we know when we have reached maximum peformance? When the peformance lowers after leaning?

Thanks

first make sure you have smoke on idle+ gassed. mine is at 1-1/4L&1-1/4H but of course your way over there Mate!on mine less than 1 turn on lsn yields not enough smoke to my liking.i then tune the HSN for fast accel without way too much smoke&back off 1/12th at a time to there is massive acceleration with some smoke.i tried adjusting with heat gun but no change, good luck.

For best power the plug should look like a paper bag brown on the end, although I don't suggest going for a best performance tune. You're right on the edge of going to lean and seizing up and that's no fun, just keep it kind of rich with a little smoke or kind of a raspy sound under power. There's no true answer to what temp these engines run at, I've had unported motors run up to 260*F and ported ones run past 300*F. Just keep an eye on your plug color and you'll be fine.
