Hiya all..

Just read this thread with great interest.

I live in western australia and rc oval is non existent.

But i have a 2wd slash with alloy lgc chassis that i dont use anymore since going to elect 1/8 buggies. I am thinking of taking some wharf ropes down to the soccer oval where there is a patch of hard sand / clay mix.. hard but loose. I would be by myself, but i have a personal lap counter.

I have some ofna 1/8 buggy onroad tyres, but the fronts are smaller than the rears both in diameter and width.. so will look bloody awesome under a late model body. I have ordered the 17mm axle converters to fit em.. should be here soon.

The bodies are very expensive for me in aust.. postage is huge. so still undecided atm.. any ideas of good deals? LOL

Will get pics as it comes along...

I think you'll have lots of fun with your short course dirt oval car. You might be able to get some other onlookers interested too.

As for bodies, I would think the Losi, OFNA or RJ Speed might be the easiest and most cost efficient of the molded bodies since they are distributed by the major hobby outlets (Horizon, Great Planes, etc). The other option might be to build your own from lexan. Our rules dictate molded bodies only, but if its only you then you are only limited by your imagination.

Hope it all works out well! If you have any questions I'm sure the folks here (as well as myself) will be more than happy to help.

cheers for the welcome...

so how big are these ovals? just going to do an inside rope..

bought a RJSpeed body... $52 shipped
just need to change spring settings
seal the diff and choose an oil grade
grade all my various slash springs, and pick one soft, one hard, two med?
then decide on oil grade for shocks.

sound about right?

its due for a birthday anyway.. so looking forward to getting out and doing some circle work...

The size of the track is only limited to how much room you have. I think our track is around 220 feet on the run line.

For spring, just find what works for you. Your suggestions are a good starting point.

Looks good.
You'll need to either turn the front bumper upside down or take it off to get the Latemodel body to fit properly. I actually use a wide RPM bumper upside down.

kewl.. i had heard that before.. but was gonna wait for the body to arrive before i go too far

So what sort of motors do you use? its got a 17.5t and i have a turbo speedy

and how tight would you run the rear diff? gonna either buy the hot racing sealed diff and run oils.. or dodgy mod the existing one and run oil..

Several of our guys are running 3800kv castle motors or 10.5 sensored motors. Our first race back in June 2012 the winner took out a 5700kv castle and installed a 17.5 rtr type motor and won.

On diff oils I've seen everything from bone stock all the way up to locked spools run well at our track. The HR piece is a good piece. I haven't used it yet but it's installed.

As ALLRACER said, he has had great success with the Proline transmission.
