Default AE RC8 Oval Conversion Kit...

I'm currently working on a set of bumpers and a rear body mount for the RC8. I have the protos cut out and now I just have to put some holes in them to put everything together and mount them to the buggy. If all goes well, there shouldn't have to be any modifications made to the base buggy to make these work.

I'm going to do some testing with it then to check the durability of the add-ons, and to see if there is a need for different shock towers. I'm hoping what's on the buggy will perform well and be competitive to keep the conversion costs down for the racer.

My plans are to get it ready in time for the Horizon Hobby Shootout at JTech in October. As soon as everything is in line and working well, I'll post up some pics.

Everything is looking good so far! I need to make the foam bumper for it, actually mount the body with pins, trim the rear body posts, and do some track testing to see if the standard RC8 Chassis will work for oval racing as is. Hopefully no modifications will need to be done to the suspension. As of now, nothing has to be modified to mount the THD Latemodel Kit on the RC8! Below are some pictures.

Thanks,

Well after having a great first heat and having a couple of problems in the next 2, I qualified 10 overall (#2 in the B-Main) out of 19 drivers. I was pretty pleased with that considering it was my first outing with the car and I was up against some of the best drivers in Northern Indiana & Illinois IMO such as Mark Corns, Mark Stetler, Lee Morrison, & Dustin Malicoat to name a few. In addition to running with Losi team drivers Adam Drake and Billy Fischer.

I ran a 41 lap 4:05.585 time, and the TQ was a 43 lap 4:00.719 time. My fastest lap time in the heat races was a 5.635, and the fastest of all the heats was a 5.362. With a more consistant driver behind the radio and some additional setup adjustments I think this car was very capable of doing better. Their were no modified/specialty parts on the car other than the Prototype THD front bumper & rear body mount. All the setup changes were done using the standard RC8 buggy components.

The kit will include an upper and lower front bumper, front body posts and a bumper spacer, 1-1/4" thick front bumper foam, rear body mount and body posts, screws to assemble and mount everything, and some body clips. There will also be assembly instructions included. I'm projecting I could have some kits available as soon as 2-3 weeks from today. If I get enough pre-orders in I could probably get them done quicker. Contact me if you are interested.

I think this buggy has proven that it can be an oval contender with a very simple bolt on Bumper & Body Mount kit this past weekend. I think in the near future I am going to work on some other things to provide more range of adjustments to fine tune it a little better.

Thanks,

Derrick Hochgesang
