Graphite - Hmmmm, no I haven’t really thought about the weight rule anymore than in the context of watching Richard, Boomer, and the Schmidts argue over it and making sure that my car would make min. at both the ROAR and NORRCA Nationals.
Rick Schmidt did bring down his reference weights (he’s an engineer of some type) and we checked the scale out using those down the gram (he used 1136 grams) at which weight the SoCal scale read 38.6 ounces. Thus, we (or at least those of us that had taken a liking to arguing over it) have agreed to use that weight as the adjusted minimum on SoCal’s scale.
As far as a flaw in ROAR’s rules, I dunno what to say. I had never heard it brought up before. Perhaps, you could E-mail Mike Mayberry (he’s the only ROAR official that will ever get back to you) and see if he can clarify it. His E-mail is [email protected] .
BTW, good run you had on Saturday. 3rd in the main – looks like you’re starting to pick up this Pan Car stuff.

A reminder to everyone in general.
Since we have not heard back from the host track for the 2002 ROAR OnRoad Nationals, MHOR RC in Denver, CO, we should probably keep up our E-mail campaign to make sure that a 1/10th GTP Pan Car class is included at that race. Their E-mail address is [email protected] for anyone that needs that again.

ROAR weight
Mark A: I took the liberty of copying my question and your response and e-mailing it to Mike Mayberry. When I get a response, I'll let you know. If it's note-worthy, I'll post it here too. See ya Sat. night....LC BTW, thanks for going to bat for me on the laps, pretty hard to do well when the computer drops ya four laps....

Offical unoffical answer on 1/10 scale wt.
Boy, talk about a quick answer! Thanks Mike Mayberry! Here's the response I got today:
Lee,
For the sake of argument, I would conclude that 40oz is the minimum weight no matter how many grams that is. It looks like the Oz to Grams/Kilos conversion is wrong in a couple other places in the rule book too.
Thanks for pointing this out; I'll pass this on to the powers that be.
As a ROAR official, if this came up at a nationals I would rule that the minimum weight is 40oz.
Mike.

On Sunday, Feb 17th, the new track out in Lake Perris will be having a race; not just any race mind you. This one will be televised by the Outdoor Channel. Ok, so it’s not ESPN but most people get that channel (it’s 608 if you have DirecTV).
Are any of the Pan Car people from around Southern California interested in going? It’s kinda short notice and it costs $20 to enter but would be pretty impressive for all the RC folks around the country to tune in and see a full heat (or more) of 1/10th GTP Pan Cars on TV. They are supposed to have some “prizes” for the $20 entry fee. Let me know what everyone thinks and I can get more info. I’m pretty sure they’d have no problem running our class (unlike a certain track in Stockton that is hosting the ROAR Carpet Nationals).
Anyway, here’s are some pics of the track:

We’re up to 5 people who want to go for the TV race in Perris a week from Sunday. If you’re interested in going, post here, E-mail me or even PM me. 5 probably isn’t worth going out there for but if we can get up to 8+ish, then we’re talking about being able to put on a good show.

Meanwhile, the SoCal Pan Car points series that Boomer is putting together is coming along very nicely.
We're already getting some PR for it: http://www.wildhobbies.com/news/defa...&articleid=508
