LOSI MONSTER TRUCK XL
Hi all, anyone have it, bashed it, and converted it besides me... looking forward to hear other opinions of it...

I'd like to hear about it too. Saw one at lhs. It's big! Don't own one. How do you like yours? How is the power? How are the stock servos?

Its quite the beast and the steering servos work well. So far i like this better than my DBXL. So far I've only ran it on 8s but gonna step it up this weekend hopefully...

I've got one and plan to leave it gas powered. I've only bashed it twice so far, but it's held up well and a ton of fun! Seems a little heavy in the nose, but overall it's not a bad jumper. I actually think I may end up liking this more than my 5ive-t.

We have 2 of them, one of each colour. Definitely have found a few weak spots after a couple of weekends; I clipped a culvert with the RF arm and it did a lot of damage rather than just breaking the arm. It bent the rearward arm pivot block and also cracked the lower servo saver arm.
Have ordered aluminum upgrades for the steering system and the top plate as well; although it hasn't failed yet on the other truck, the servo arm mount to the saver is a weak spot as it is only a 6/32 into a blind plastic hole. Going to upgrade the second truck to aluminum as well because of this.
Fit and finish was really good for a RTR; some of the angles were off but not horribly.
Have added tuned pipes to both; it is hard to find the info but the DBXL pipe works perfectly on these.
There is a mistake in the manual for binding; one truck came unbound and to rebind you need to move the battery plug in the Rx to another cavity and put the bind plug in the batt/bind cavity. Anyone with much RC experience would have figured this out but hopefully that helps one of the newer people.
The 29 is pretty strong after the pipe upgrade but this truck is screaming for a 2 speed conversion package. The gearing is low to be able to turn those massive tires and it definitely needs more top end.
One note on the parts available right now; a lot of the DBXL parts fit but you need to be aware of some of the colour differences. If you are going to order anything using the pt #'s in the manual, try and find colour pictures online first. I ended up with a couple of aluminum parts that were anodized red for the DBXL instead of the plain aluminum finish they are on the XL.
The preset factory steering limits are way too narrow for an experienced user but it is pretty easy to adjust them just following the manual. It is also easy to turn off AVC which I would recommend after break-in; even my wife who is relatively new to RC found AVC was far too restrictive.
Overall, it is a great truck and would buy it again; like any new product the aftermarket parts are limited right now but I expect there will be a lot of upgrades available in the next 6 months or so.

I have one but i'm not allowed to post videos, you can find them by searching 78vintages on youtube. It is an awesome RC. Looks great and the stock engine is plenty enough but I feel it needs a decent pipe. The stock brakes are poor, really poor but that's an easy upgrade. It is so much better than the car it's based on the DBXL. The overall build quality is fantastic.

I see both of you opted to retain the manual brakes. I was considering getting the Kershaw kit, are there any specific reasons you didn't opt for that kit as well?

The motor brakes is the most stress your esc will ever experience. Disable motor brakes and use mech brakes and you will relive stress from system and also have the ability to adjust brake bias front to rear. Anytime a build tops 25lbs I do everything possible to retain mech brakes
