My OS 1202

The engine was a beast at the GLC this pass weekend. But it lived a short life. I thought the engine sucked the glow plug element into the engine but after a closer look at home the evidence shows the piston pin c-clip became dislodged while the engine was running.https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...5339f6109b.jpg

The c-clip on the other side was still intact

Mines ran great all week. Fastest .12 I've ever driven!!!! I put a lot of laps on it and still perfect!

what's a good operating temp for the T1203 - I saw 267 above, i was told that's too high for these engines.

267 should be good. 290 + may shorten the life. Mine ran beautiful at 273 degrees

Is there a reason this engine seems about $200-$300 overpriced?

no, thats about right. For what you get with its price, i am not complaining. There is a reason many of the top drivers have switched to OS!

Id be complaining about that Maxima T6 @ 600+ usd!!!!

Probably because of the OS brand quality... in my experience they are fast, reliable and hold a tune. They still struggle with 5 minute run time and did think when everyone started changing to OS they must have been better for run time than Novarossi.

I wish there was a manufacturing process video for these motors. I've seen videos like that for Bugatti and Koenigsegg and I can understand why those cars cost a few million to buy, doesn't mean they're not expensive. But a single piston engine being $500? That's just blowing my mind, really. Maybe that's just market value. Is the OS brand the equivalent of Mugen, Spoon, HKS, etc. in the JDM market, you're pretty much paying for great performance, but also paying a premium for that name?

Calculated with the amount of engines to sell in a year, the needed workers, machines and facility an engine can be produced for arround 80 dollar a piece to make profit.

But then there are taxes, distributors, resellers, shipment etc.....
