Glow Plug Running Review
I thought I would start running review on glow plugs. For the most part there are many manufactures in which you can run on many different engines.
Please post up your reviews on your go to plug. I am curious on how the ofna plugs work. I have only used a handful of different ones. Arizona Weather: Odonnell 97 T: Was ok seems to do well however longevity is not so great but they are priced well. O.S P3: Has worked very well and they seem to last quite awhile. Somewhat pricey Mugen JX P3: Has been the best plug I have used and they last a long time. They do cost plenty more than most plugs :batman: Post up the reviews. It would also help if you state where you live as well. I am looking to find the most reliable plug with performance. |
well i havnt ran a lot of glow plugs in my .21 engines but here we go.
1. odonnell #100 meduim plug it gives you great idle but does like a too rich of a bottom end setting so they wont last long doing that but they are the cheapest plug around there is a reason for that ;) 2. novarossi plugs ive ran the #5 and #6 plug and i liked the #5 plug which is a med hot plug they last pretty long for me thoughout break in and about 1 gallon and never had random flameouts. they are kind of pricey. i live in pa so i been using the odonnell #100 plug during the summer when its around 90+ with high humity. |
California weather! always 80+ degrees!
i run the o'donnell 77t med plug in my Go GX5R and absolutely love it!;) they last long and stay consistant! oh yeah i run 20% losi nitrotane at the moment but am making the switch over to A-MAIN FUELS by MASSIVE MODS 30% |

I have been running SH plugs in my .21 with grate success.
Their T4 is working very well at least in my climate which is normally 20-25 Celsius. I ran 3 gallons on the last plug. |
Run and O'Donnell 77T for the Texas heat in a Novarossi Plus 21-4 and love it so far. Started with the 97T for break-in and it was okay, but low end was a monster to get my arms around. The 77T seems much easier to tame so far and have only used one so far, but bought a handfull.

OS P3 in Werks B5. Happy so far.

I run Ofna JL glowplugs (T5) in both of my JPX .28 and my Picco P7r and I've had great luck with them, actually I haven't had one go bad yet :) I'm still running a Picco P6 glowplug in my Clockworks JL (backwards, huh?) and I'm still running the original I put in the engine when I got it (roughly 1 1/2 gal on it). In my standard plug engines I've gone back to the McCoy plugs, they seem to hold up the best of what I've tried (O'donnell, Dynamite, RB, Novarossi). I've been running the MC8 in both my Novarossi N21R and my old Picco P7r Evo 2 (standard plug head button) with great success.

77T is listed as a hot plug. Do you mean 97T?

Werks #5 work amazing and last several gallons a piece. I broke in my B5 with a 97T and switched after the first gallon. I ran the next 5 gallons on two #5's and lost one because of an air leak around the fuel inlet leading to a lean condition.

In South Florida where it's 90deg+ with humidity that tops the charts in the summer, I've been using Novarossi C6G plugs in my .12 and OS #9 in my .21 with good results on both. Consistent running, good idle, no problems to report.
I only run 20% because I want to keep one fuel for everything and I do not race competitively. Still, I've found these plugs last a long time for me. |
