Well I had never heard of anyone suggesting a hot plug for 30% nitro applications, regardless of shimming. The current Nova Rossi plugs that I use now(C6 cold) say they are specifically suited to 30% nitro usage.

Duhhh....on me. I didn't even think to check there first.

I just found it odd that RCCA turbo plug guide says to "use the hottest turbo plug availible", while they did not take into account the type of fuel being used.:weird:

Well as you can see by my last post, it isn't allways like that. You have to take into account WEATHER, and NITRO%, and NITRO% determines the right shimming of your engine.

As per OS Turbo plugs, they have three types rated by ambient Temp:
P6 for low temp applications
P7 for average all season use
P8 for high temp applications

Try the new P3 super hot plug. It will give you about 500 more RPM's

It is getting very "late in July" does anyone have a motor yet or any new information on the ship date?

:D

rodneybarrett 07-27-2004 07:19 AM

don't expect these motors until late August.

I don't know why Tower still has that "late July" listing there. Both they and OS has comfirmed to me through email, that the R-spec wont be reaching retailers until "late Aug".

Towerhobbies or your local hobby shop (if they deal with GreatPlanes) are the ONLY places to get OS in the states. So if you really want one, I would suggest pre-ordering now at one of those locals. I have and I know a good number of others have too. I went with Tower since I know they'll get them first.

Darkseid 08-09-2004 09:25 AM

NOTICE!!!

Anybody who preordered the R-spec on Towerhobbies might want to give them a call. It seems that Tower is lowering the price for Aug. and that means more savings!

I had mine reserved for $179 with a coupon code for $20off. Now, the new price is $159 and they will still apply the coupon code, so that means the engine will then be $139!!!

***note***If you go to their site and search for the engine, the main page still shows $179, but if you click on the engine to go to its information page, you'll see the new price of $159.

Now I don't know if this was a mistake on their part or if they are really putting it on sale like I was told on the phone, but either way now you know...

-Just spreading the knowledge...

Just wanted to let you guys know that my E-spec was awesome on it's first race this past weekend!! Ron Atomic (O.S. sponsored) came to Memphis and raced with us. The track was fairly slow for nitro so we couldn't tell if my box stock motor was comparable to his motor on the big end, but down low and mid-range it was wicked fast. I ran an R6 turbo plug and kept the tune around 230-240. Unfortunately my driving wasn't near as clean as Ron's so I was about a second per lap slower (18 sec laps) than he was consistantly.

We had a great time and I couldn't be more pleased with my motor.

Darkseid 08-13-2004 12:02 PM

That is good news. I'm very ready to get mine. Tower bumped the engine up to "Mid Aug." so maybe it will be in around the end of next week. If not, late Aug. is still acceptable.

The R-Specs are instock at TowerHobbies! My backordered one is being packed up to ship out on Monday. I should have it by Wednesday!

Whoo...hooo...:D

yep. mine too. However for some reason the discount didn't get aplpied correctly. I did buy it at $159 but there should have been a $20 discount too. I tried to call and Customer service was already gone. I'll try again tomorrow or monday.

That is great news, I have a race coming up on the 21st. I want to take it with me so I can drop it off and have it modified.
