Piston/ Sleeve
 

How often do I need to replace the piston and sleeve of my 2.5 trx? Also, does anyone have anytips on tuning for good performance, and long engine life?

it all depends how you take care of and run your engine. MY friends 2.5 is through about 2.5 gallons and has plenty of compression.

My .15FE(yes different mfr but still and engine) is through 3 some gallons and still running alright, not like new but it does well.

Yeah really depends on how you treat the engine, to give u an example, my Novamax 21 has seen 8 gallons of fuel and going on my 9th still have tons of compression granted I replace conrod every 1 1/2 to 2 gallons and I clean the internal regularly.

just curious...how does replacing the conrod help??

Conrod will wear with such high rev and once it start wearing the bushing will go bad and shatter into pieces and kill your engine.

besides when your conrod bushing starting wearing like an oval shape then you will start loosing compression then you will start leaning the motor then things will go bad.

Thanks guys! I am only running the truck for fun. No racing, nothing too cruel. So, what you guys are saying, is that once I feel compression drop, I should replace the sleeve and piston. Does anyone have a price for piston and sleeve for the 2.5. (assuming that the conrod comes with it) Thanks again!!!

Inspect the rod every other week or so, see if there is play on the crank pin bushing, or you can take the rod out and measure it make sure it is round, not oval. If it starts to ovaling then replace the rod and wrist pin.
