Originally posted by Motorman Chuck I talked to Tommy the other night, and Swauger did run a JPX12 long stroker................................ PS I have loyal spies everywhere like the CIA. So is this JPX12 based on the Novarossi RR12L3?? and consequently the new Mugen X12 is a long stroker as well??? or is it a new version of the venerable MT12 long conrod.??? AFM |
There must be 2 different X12's then, because the one I saw was an NS12 with Mugen badging. Any info?

Going on to the issue of the Mugen.....Yeah I thought the same, that the new Mugen X12 is based on the Novarossi NS12S3, so where does this mistery "long stroke x12 " appeared from???.....Unless they put all the internals on to an MT12 casing, using the old long conrod...and voala.... you get a long stroke X12. Could it be possible???? AFM |
Nope, if you put the sleeve in a MT12 case with the long rod than you have a long rod motor but not a long stroke motor.
Stroke is only affected by the distance of the crankpin from from the axial center of the crankshaft, not by the length of the rod. I don't think Swauger's engine was a long stroke,it definately sounded like a NS3, just on steriods;) |

My understanding was that the X12 was based on the RR version of the novarossi not the NS, on antoher note I don't see the x12 mugen as available fron jp yet on their site.

The technical data on the Mugen USA site indicates that it is based on te NS3 not the RR

Dennis,
I have a question for you. I stripped a head screw thread on two different Picco engines (curiously the same screw on both engines) and I was wondering what you would do to repair this. a.) Helicoil? b.) drill and tap for a 3.5mm screw? Have you ever done this before? Thanks, Stefan |
