overall, italian engine is the best. for more reliability, go for novarossi. sirio evoII is more suitable for long track but the life span is lesser. go to sirio thread to get pros n cons about that engine.

Do you think a NSR5 will do good in Taipei's offical track? There's no more wanban so I want to get a new engine for the big track. I have a OS TZ p 3p at moment and it's dying! I can't get any parts at moment. Or I can wait and buy the 5 port pistons and sleeve. What do you think? thanks! Or maybe I should consider the new L version? :confused:

I would get the Nova as I believe it will last longer. Big tracks wear your engine out faster and you'd better off with a Nova. I've also had good luck with the new Sirio Evo3. There are some reliability problems reprted but I've bought 2 and no problems at all. The Sirio seems to have a faster top end than the typical Nova based engines and that would be good for the big track. The only problem is that Sirio is not officially imported in Taiwan and you'll need to get it from HK.

Anybody got any comments on the LL3? I just used one today and its got lots of low end power. I dont know if i am getting the best out of it. What head shims are people running in it? I use 16% Nitro

mine is LL5. the high end is good enough. i also use head shims that come with the engine. try 25% or 30% to get more power

Hahaha..... I know I know...... the red is lame this year. I think it's due to bridgestone tires haven't come out with grip vs. wear issues.

BTW, I've got LL5 too, haven't break in yet, hopefully this sunday. Have you ever take out LL5 conrod & piston ? I can't..... it feels there is no room to remove it. ( I want to use other conrod for break in process and after break in I put back the original conrod ).

Its a bit of a pig if the engine is brand new but if you put the piston TDC it comes out just.

the RR12L3 is a great engine...lots of torque!!! I run it with no restrictor and 30% nitro with plug #7. REAL hard to break in but I have almost 2 gallons thru mine and it runs very good (still flames out a little...). If you gear your car taller and run on a short track, this engine can't be beat!!! Have not seen the OS .12TZ yet. Looks like I might get that one but most likely I will get a 5-port LL. I run this engine with a solid axle and with all the torque it really pulls thru the infield. Definitely use this engine for short, tight technical tracks like most parking lots offer...

My friend got TZ 5 ports, it's very fast engine at cheaper price. I think it's slightly faster than NSR S5 ( or maybe my NSR S5 have lost compression )

During Futaba race in Jakarta 2005, some drivers got trouble with TZ 5, I think they leaned the engine like crazy ( or maybe first batch issue ).

I'm quite confident that LL5 engine could be king of the hill, I haven't got a chance to race it against JP engines.

I did, it stuck...... :(

After 5 trial I decided not to mess up with it.
