Novarossi engines thread

Use the same head shims for both Head buttons. You may compensate for conditions by removing the 0.10mm shim depending on track size and weather. If you notice a large amount of carbon buildup on the piston and head button after about 2 liters of fuel, it may be time to remove the 0.10mm shim. This is a symptom of poor combustion due to lack of compression.
I'll keep an eye on the cylinder head when it's used up two liters.
I still have to break-in the engine.
Again, thank you very much!

Can someone please help me on the difference between a Bonito 7XLB and a Bonito .21 R2?

What is the highest engine temp you can run a 9-port novarossi at without it starting to cause damage ?

Generally speaking, normal operating temp is between 230F - 260F in open 1/8th IC cars. If your engine goes above 260 deg, it will be difficult to hold a proper tune and will likely begin to experience detonation. Over 290 deg will start to damage the internals due to lack of lubrication on friction prone surfaces such as the crank pin, wrist pin and bearings and once again, tuning will be even more difficult as carburetor vapor lock can occur.

Novarossis like to run hotter than os, and generally any other engine I own.
I have a virtus, and a mephisto that I was running at 280F, and it is running perfect, I have 8 gallons through it so far and it is still going strong and tunes perfect!!

Thanks George sounds good mine was running at 250F and seems not to have the top end like others so I was thinking of leaning it out some more and do some test runs.

Hey Steve good to hear from you and thanks for the help, I was asking the information on my engine because it did not seem to have the punch down the straight away so I was going to try leaning it out a little more. I know it could be my gearing also or a combination of things but again it just seem like it did not have that punch or top speed as others. Now I know that most are running top end OS engines and that could be the case.
Again thanks for the reply and help.
