I would believe that everyone that owned a ninja had tried one out :sneaky:.

A group of us are using the M.R.T line (orange heatsink)...Really good engines and quality worth the price. Ran well with very smooth & good power band. Good fuel consumption with very good mid to top end. Definitely a competition engine to look out for.

i was really no friend of the Ninja engine line, but last weekend I saw the new .21 onroad GRP run in an onroad car and I have to say I was impressed.

Maybe they learned a lot in the last two years, or maybe Mugen provided input which was not really good.

i will keep an eye on those GRP's.

keavze 06-29-2008 11:01 PM

reviews needed.

currently i'm looking for a new competitive engine...

GRP is one of my considerations but reviews needed to make it worth.

i've shortlisted sirio, idm and jlr too....any comments? :D

Novarossi 12-3SCT

I have only seen one of these engines at the track, and wasnt impressed. Maybe it was setting or the driver. Although a friend of mine is using his Ninja and has been taking TQs alot. I myself prefer Novarossi line, because I already got the pipes at my pit box and I can get the glow plugs for dirt cheap.

hmm, nova engines...:ha:
i'll be considering the 353+ns12 combo set.
but how's the ns12? and i dont have matching pipes...
pipes i have are the RB turbo, skyline n picco 2607.

the GRP set looks good as the price is not exp and comes with matching pipe. :D

iam running the grp .12 and .21 onroad engines in my cars, i use too run the ninja both .12 and .21 onroad motors and the ninja compared to the grp is awsome the ninja was lacking bottom end i found, but with the grp there is so much bottom end its not funny and better still there is heaps of top end, ive been racing against the novarossi's and there not that much quicker, but the grp is a great cheap motor

German Muscle 07-05-2008 05:48 AM

the GRP Tuned are just MRT Tuned ninjas.

So your saying the novarossi's are quicker?

mxwrench 07-21-2008 05:42 PM

GRP has had an X-Dyno for months now so hopefully they are using it to their benefit and making more power. I believe this will be their first engine to benefit from the X-Dyno testing capabilities.

Time will tell.

Looks nice.

Anyone tried this combo out yet? (promo kit)

RB_Racer 08-24-2008 12:47 AM

Hi

I just got my Promo kit from RCMarket (Great company to deal with highly recommend) and i just wondered what shims i need to add or remove for 16% nitro?

I will leave it as it is for run in period and will change once i have run a bit of fuel through it.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Hi
I have been running in the new GRP 12
I have put 4 ltr threw it and still cant get it run in
still very tight at TDC
still has thats metallic pinging coming out at idle
Are all the grp's this tight
I've had os engines that are tight but not as tight as these
never took so long to break in

Wascheck 09-28-2008 08:22 AM

I use only GRP engines and all of the are too tight...

gortan 09-29-2008 09:47 AM

what's the engine based upon?
OS, Nova?

GRP's are GRP made. They make them themselves.

gortan 09-29-2008 10:18 PM

ok thanks, wingracer

I believe my confusion arised from the ninja brand.
If I'm not further confused, previous ninja were based on grp.. and new ones on OS, right?

Arahawak 09-29-2008 10:54 PM

Question:

Any body knows if the .12 GRP engine conrod will fit the old Ninja T01As?

KyoshoKid 10-02-2008 01:36 AM

Is the tuned piped that comes with the kit any good? By the comments above the engine seems really good but wanted to know if the pipe is a basic one and needs upgrading.

spenzalii 10-02-2008 01:47 PM

The included pipe works extremely well, especially if it's the FLS pipe in the promo kit.

raving-monkey 10-05-2008 08:22 AM

Heyup folks, been a while since i have been on these boards (you probably haven't seen me before, i used to lurk around the electric bit)

Well after getting out of hospital after my motorcycle accident, i decided to get back into the wonderful and expensive world of R/C (after selling up my electric gear about a year ago).

Well anyway, decided to get into the 10th onroad so bought an NT1, the GRP .12 promo kit and some other bits and bobs.

Got to building the NT1 clutch and it said 'use the cone that comes with your engine' so thought fair enough but the problem is, there wasn't a cone in the box.

Now speaking to some folk on msn, they were very suprised it didn't come with a cone.

Now my question is, should i get back onto the shop i got it from and see whats going on and where is my cone, or is it normal for the GRP not to come with one and i have to buy my own (which i don't mind, they are only a quid or so)

Thanks
Matt:batman:

im not sure about the GRP engines, but the OS engines dont come with that Collar, there should be one in ur NT1 Kit.

What Plugs?

Hey guys,

I'm considering the promo pack for my V-One. I've currently been running a JLR Evo3, and although very happy with the engines performance, it appears to have 'bitten the dust', but that's another story.

Anyway, with the GRP, what plugs are you guys running? (another reason I'm thinking about moving away from the Picco, is plugs are now $11 us each....OUCH :flaming:)

Cheers

musti72 10-06-2008 07:36 AM

grp has its own glow plugs and i think they are cheaper than picco ones

I was wondering is the Boss line of engines are the same as the new GRP line of engines? Has anyone run boss engine?

i believe boss, ninja and falcon were previously from GRP...
but now; i'm not sure... :weird:

almtx3 10-24-2008 08:58 AM

Hey guys, has anyone had any tuning issues with the GRP? My buddy and I are still a bit traumatized after all the tuning issues we had with his old Ninja and would hate to go through something like that again. We couldn't even turn the needle on the ninja's carb 1 minute without the engine giving us a hassle.

PROVK 10-24-2008 01:12 PM

I had no problems with the Ninja or GRP holding a tune.

Hello, It's an old post but I too have a Ninja engine 12 and 21 do you know if the parts are interchangeable like rods and piston and sleeve? Thanks.

Bert

spenzalii 10-27-2008 07:15 AM

GRP and Ninja parts are indeed interchangeable.

trebronpay 10-27-2008 08:14 PM

I think PICCO is catching up with computer printer mfg. Give the printers for $50 but charge another $50 for ink cartridge.

Picco do make super fast engines at a super value price, but their plugs are the most expensive, and can't be interchanged with others.

I use OS P7 on my EVO 3 with no issues....last longer then picco plugs, cheaper, and easier to find!

GRP's are good little mills....

I own a motor mod company, called Sinister Mods. I have built two of these little mills, and I have to say they are pretty strong little motors!

My team driver who races Dirt Oval, really likes this motor in a 1/10th Sprint car. So for you guys who are wondering if they are worth it... Modded, they are very much worth it, they are very strong, excellent running little motors.

Now, if you want my personal opinion, I would stay with Novarossi, because you know what you are getting from a Nova... They are the top of the barrel as far as motors are concerned. I have yet to have a bad Novarossi! Just something to think about.

I did notice one thing about the GRP's, they are very similar to the Old GRP Ninja line, but do have suttle differences that make them just a bit different.

Just my two cents, hope it helps....

Oh, and by the way GRP's interlocking pipe design is kick ass!!!! No springs or anything! way cool engineering....

darrinnumbers 12-22-2008 10:17 PM

JLR notes....

Guys who are running JLR Red Dots..... Have I good news for you.... For those who find the JLR is a bit sluggish on the bottom..... Free Advice from a motor modder..... Get a Novarossi Carb from a RER3 and put it on the RED Dot..... Oh My God you will not even believe the difference! It is like a total night and day comparison.....

Some food for thought!

Merry Christmas !
