will do captain. thanks. Any clue as to a reference point? The ol XR is worn from only one season of mild to heavy use. temps under control etc. but became hard to use so I took it to a local Max Power sponsored driver and he recomended an internal rebuild. Should I keep the stock shims in place? 30% nitro,,,in Houston no less. Thanks,

Hey MA racer, I would chek the deck height with solder and see where your at first before doing anything with the shimming. After knowing that, you can see if your to high or to low. I sauly run anywher from .021-.024 in my stuff with 30% in Houston. If you need ant help just ask man, no problem.:)

is the following correct?

the SL3 MF and standard version (older max.12) is a torque engine

the newer Xl3 is a rev engine

is this correct? also, is there a MF tuned version of the XL3 out yet?

what are the other differences between the two engines?

From what I was told the SL3 is a long stroke and the XL3 is a short stroke. Supposedly the XL3 only comes tuned from MF!!

Serpent-Dan 02-28-2008 07:26 PM

Yes the XL3 is Max tuned

ok, so it's a rev motor. i was also told via PM on another forum that the piston material is different.

Scottyoo- deck clearance on the ol XR was .60. But that's a needin to be rebuilt still, p/s/r. I think the rod had a bit too much play, haha ya think?

tony montana 02-29-2008 05:59 PM

I think brooklyn hobbies has that engine in stock

Serpent-Dan 02-29-2008 06:09 PM

I spoke to Richie last week he said no too much$$

tony montana 02-29-2008 06:24 PM
