Reassembling an engine.
Hi,
I Was told when reassembling an engine to use after run or some fuel to coat it to make it easier and easier to burn the crap you cleaned it with.. Is this true or what should I use? Thanks. |
Use after run oil. When you clean the engine, you remove all the lubricants. Coating the parts prevents you from turning over a "dry" engine, which is a very bad idea.

Is this also true for a new engine? Should I break it down and clean the inside, as well as coat it with after-run oil before ever installing it in the car?
It's always a good idea to take your engines apart and inspect them on a regular basis. The more you get use to what the insides of your engines are suppose to look like, the better you'll know when there is some issue that you need to address. |

I've never worked on that engine before, so I'm reluctant to give you any advice. There is some info here:

Well, before I didn't bother to clean my brand new engines before breaking it in. Most of the engines that I have used were the OS ones. When I started using the Nova engines, a friend of mine recommended that I take the engine apart and clean it. That is what I did and to my surprise it had some minute debris in it. I'm sure glad I took it apart and cleaned it. Also, I put a few drops of after run oil in the engine everytime I take the engine apart. This is to keep the engine internals oiled before breaking it in or running it again. It sure helps to keep the internals well lubricated as to running it dry...
