Any motor can have the timing profile changed.
What I'm saying is, if you can keep the timing profile of the Evo2 with a evo 3 crank, it would be a hot motor. This is somewhat IDM has done, used the EVO 3 with evo 2 timing profile.IIRC, it's a 0.2mm shim under the lip of the sleeve. Timing can be altered by physically moving the sleeve up or down, or by cutting the crank intake. Search around there's a thread explaining engine timing and mods.

thats good info. im kinda skiddish on mod'd motors

i like the predictability of a factory motor. because i am just getn really good at tuning. i have seen some tuning nightmares out of mod'd ones.

i may get a idm or tuned jl. i think im sold on them for a while. i like jps too

I love these motors too, only complaint is the short life span on the rods. Seems picco will never get away from the reputation of having the notorious premature rod failures. It's the only brand of motor I have ever encountered that needs a rod change every 2 gallons.

i hope mine will last 2 more races, then it will be rebuild time.

i think thats gonna be about 2 gallons since last time. but hey, 30bucks is cheap insurance on a good motor.

my motor has be ran since the capt classic in MD, and is still getn locked up TDC, sweeeeet

Try a Sirio .21. Need to change rods every 30 minutes.

My buddy at 301 has the red dot .12 and he ran 4 gallons on his motor before popping the rod.

I did this little trick on my LRP spec 4, certainly woke the engine up - however I lost a good 45sec to 1 min run time.

I added 0.2mmm under the sleeve ( used a modified head shim) and removed the same amount from between the sleeve and the head button.

Easy trick that can easily be reversed - I will try 0.1mm next and see what that does

i have been running this picco plug for 3 race weekends, including a 2 day regional.

take the advise from Kamikaze.
I ran the same plug that I broke the Jl evo3 tuned in with for 9 race weekends, 1 two day Rc pro weekend, and 1 two day regional event. I ran that same plug for the whole life of the engine till it started popping plugs and gave up.

bang the back of the hot engine against a piece of wood, sometimes you have to do it a couple of times - 400 degrees farenheit right?

Yeah, everything worked out, but i have another problem. While pulling the motor apart, the metal sleeve of the carb barrel pulled out. I think this carb is done for.

Yup once the sleeve comes off that's it.

LOL note to self, leave the carb alone unless you have an extra ready to go.
