That's great, thanks.

JPL
I just ordered a red dot from Kamikasi this weekend. For the price.. with the skyline.. I am new and my sirio has been acting up.... great time to try something new. Nova is kinda expensive... and the TZ... I might try it next. I will give you all feedback once I give it a try.
Any tips for tuning? I plan on running 25 and a 6 plug. |
 :flaming:  Well, my JL snapped after 2 1/2 gallons. The conrod snapped and shot the bottom piece through the crankcase making a big hole at the bottom of the engine, which makes it necessary to buy a completely new engine. I use 30% byrons fuel, run the stock plug, and my average temps=230

while your engine was running though it was fast right?
and do you think it was a premature failure? or just bad construction? |
Things that we have to consider on an event of an engine failure:
Clutch adjustment might be too tight or slipping causing engine to over rev. How many times it overheated before? properly maintained after racing, inspect the components Did it got broken in properly? If it is a defect or poorly constructed motor, then it should have occurred in less than a gallon. I have one that have 3 1/2 gallons thru it, and everytime I open it up and inspect it, I am always surprise to see that the internals are still like new. and never knew what temperature it runs on, all I did is look for a good puff of smoke whenever it comes out of a corner with WOT. |
Hey, does anyone know if Associated-LRP plugs are Picco based? Thanks!

A couple of questions on the JL Red Dot...
- What break-in process is being used? The previous posts on this thread have all said that the break-in process was easy but don't mention a method. - How difficult is this motor to tune for racers with limited experience? Most of my experience is with an OS TZ-12 3-port. |

Most of my experience is with an OS TZ-12 3-port. 1st Tank = Idle 2nd Tank = half throttle on a very rich setting 3rd to 6th Tank = Wide open throttle also on a very rich setting (as rich as it will run) 7th Tank = start leaning it out an hour at a time on every succeeding tank until race tuned. |
I JUST GOT YM ENGINE!!!!
this thing looks SICK! all blacked out! with silver! I just love how it looks also it says made in in italy which is kick ass!. funny tho it doesnt say "red-dot" anywhere on the engine just JL12 on the head |

I changed mine after break in plus one race and will keep an eye on it in the future. |
