thanks in advance

there's a modified version of a modified engine ? :D

i thought the JLR was the only JLR there is out there, unless u modify it yourself which is kinda pointless

Off the shelf/ out of the box is crazy fast, if you try to modify it, it will just give you less run time and not going to get any faster.

The motor out of the box is off the chain fast.  :tire: :tire:

man, when are .12 engines gonna get to the point where they cant make any more power without getting more displacement?

I remember 7 years ago 1hp for a .12 was ALOT now they are the same size and making almost double of that.

they have to be reaching a physical limit, no?

Bullie1,
My motor is stock. Let me put it this way, I increased my lap times on the same track layout by .5 sec per lap and wasn't even trying. I had been looking for corner to corner speed and now I have it. I went from a Modded NSRS3 micro-cast to this motor and very much satified. Now I don't have to worry about run time. For the money, it's worth a try. Good luck.

How does this thing run on 16% nitro ? Can it still outperform on a mega zx12 dsII or is it about the same. Trying too clear out some options (probably still get the mega or JP due too my LHS is supporting them)

If I am not mistaken the JL is the same thing is the new ds II. Just different names. Both picco based and one is for ofna and the other is for mega.

Roniel_R 03-28-2007 08:11 PM

The JL is the same as the DSII+ and like Dj said they are both picco based engines..

Let me get this straight...

Are you saying, that aside from a different color crankcase and head, the engines are exactly the same? That if I put both engines on a dyno, the performance curves are going to be exactly the same?

Racing4Evo 03-28-2007 10:06 PM

I don'tknow if they will be the same on the dyno but I was told that internally, both motors are identical. THe crankcase and head are supposed to be different with the Mega having the whole sleeve in the case.

Hi.I have JLR .12 Red Dot Engine. What type of glow plug is best for 16% nitro. I haveářčáář PT6H Picco Plug, is it good for me?Thanks

Hi Rainer

Let's clear this out. The Mega .12 ZX DSII does not have the same piston/sleeve as the JLR. The crank is the same part, but the DSII does not have the silicone ramp.

Now, there is word that a newer DSII + (Plus), is coming out having the same piston/sleeve as the JLR, but no word of crank having silicone ramp.

Right now the only place you can get a Modified Mega .12 ZX DSII Plus (prototypes) is from Maxy's Modified Engines.

About performance curves on a dyno.....it would be nice if somebody had the money to send all the different .12 Picco based engines and had them tested to compare their differences, because if they are made under specs, they might have small different timings between them.

Latest Picco EVO3 (newer crank with bigger inner bore and scoop)
And these engines based on the Picco EVO2
JLR Red Dot
MEGA DSII Plus
IDM EVO2
LRP Spec3

You may want to adjust the shims of the combustion chamber depending on nitro-content (see table)
Nitro content: 16% 20% 25% 30%
Head shims: 0.40mm / 0.40mm / 0.50mm / 0.60mm

Large tracks may require an extra 0.10mm shim to reach higher top speed and improved fuel consumption, but this will decrease acceleration slightly.

TURBO COLD GLOW-PLUGS to use when humidity is below 70%
•P5TC hot filament
•P6TC medium filament
•P7TC cold filament

TURBO HOT GLOW-PLUGS to use when humidity is above 70%
•P5TH hot filament
•P6TH medium filament
•P7TH cold filament

The filament number will depend on the ambient temperature. Colder use hoter filament. Hotter use colder filament.
