We have the techwell engines here in australa and a local guy at our track runs one and they are very impressive for a pull start engine and the non pull start engines are goers too.
where overseas can yu buy them.... |
yeah i live in aus to i got the techwell R12103T(TURBO) i think thats it.
|
Got a problem i ran in my engine to the instructions but now it is over heating very quickly under 5 minutes.
Does anyone know the problem or have had this same problem. In a couple of seconds it's hot. |
Sounds like an air leak to me.
|
I cant see it being anything else
|
No airleak i put new fuel line in and it getting very hot and theirs no problems with fuel consumption.
So im thinking it could be my fuel. |
just incase you didnt know but the techwell engines are just a cheaper brand of the navorossi's they are exact duplicas and these engines are crazy fast especially in the COLT that we got here in aus this car is around 1200 grams heavy belt driven and the techwell smokes up the wheels like MAD....this engine is rocket fast....if u want to buy 1 i highly recommend it
|
err... there not a a rossi copy. pull one apart and you'll see.besides from the fact that rossi never made a rear exhaust pullstart (that i know of) they do go well for a short period of time though (if you can tune it properly cause there prone to over heating)
|
It's not a pull start it is the race version R12103 with the turbo head and now the turbo plug.
As it is in my fw-05rr for pro nitro. I know that the techwell engines are fast well about the same top end as nova's and o.s. (just not alot of torque) But thats not the problem the engine it is overheating in under 5 minutes. At the moment i have put a o.s tz head on it to reduce the heat and it looks to be going fine. i have checked for: Fuel Airleaks cooling dirt clogging tuning But i think it is the head,i wont be able to test it properly untill this sunday. |
2 Attachment(s)
a mate has the 5 port and the 3 port 'pro' motors.
the 3 port goes heaps better than the 5 port but the pullstart motors are just as fast as both of them.they all suffer from poor bottom end power and heat. heres my pullstart car. |

yes i have a 3 port bump start engine and seem to run nice esspecially with the turbo plug.
How long did your mates engine last with heat. As i am only getting around 5 minutes. |
he'd be lucky to get 5 minutes.its how you tune them. my pullstart did a 10 minute final, and 5 minutes later did a 30 minute final. it come off the track like it would have gone for all day :p
|
it's a shame though as these are ment to be good reliable engines but so far they are not living up to it's reputation with this engine.
And how am i going to last my 20 minute final or even my 5 minute qualifiers when i am pushing it. |
i dont think you'll have much luck with it. i suggest os tz :D
|
Yes i did concider a tz but i thought for a club engine it should cope with it as it's not being in long finals and it's not being pushed to it limits it should have been ok. And the TZ was only $100 more then the techwell but know i have wasted my money on it there is no turning back.
So i think after this engine there will be no more techwells. |
How are things with that engine now, have things improved with that engine. last race meeting i was going to get the steaks out that thing was getting that hot. r well u learn from ur mistakes.
|
 Yeah it was gettin hot.
I wouldn't say it was a mistake but an experience, But know i think i will stick to better quality engines. My engine is at the momment going quite well with the diffrent fuel so i will give it ago this race meet (again) to see if the fuel worked. Using the fuel in the 20 minute Final worked and wasnt that hot except it could have been better tuned (not enough low end) but i have got that done know by using diffrent pipe. So i will have to see what happens. |
I noticed that your engine has improved ementsly with that fuel and pipe change didn't overheat once whist beating the o.s, nova and STS. i bet you think diffrent about your engine now.
So i guess there is no more BBQ with your engine |
Yes i think that swaping the brand of fuel worked i just hope my engine will stay like how it was going on sunday.
