I always tune from throttle to low idle immediately. You don't want a 2 stage idle. If you do it is to rich on bottom and will run on when driving. The fuel needs to burn before coming to idle then.

It shouldn't idle high for 20 seconds. That's long. You should be able to give it any kind of throttle (under load) and it should immediately drop to idle and then lay completely down after about 8-10 seconds. Is your idle gap at .5mm? Are your end points good?

Yes, throttle linkage and end points are set correctly. If there's one thing I'm good at... it's setting a linkage and end points :D Not sure what my idle gap is at... do I check with or without the carb insert in place? Definitely less than a millimeter but not completely closed. The slide sits on the idle needle like it should. Linkage isn't holding the slide open.

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to accomplish.

This is how it should be tuned.

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to accomplish.

Set with the insert out of the carb. .5mm is just a starting point. Reset the LSN and get it to where you have a consistent idle and able to hammer the throttle after about 15 to 20 seconds without it being too rich or too lean. Adjust the idle gap accordingly. With new engines, they may require a slightly wider idle gap but .7mm should probably be the max.

The LSN is already set like that, then I get the 15-20 seconds of high idle and drops down to low idle. I can hammer the throttle as much as I want and it'll pull without issue. No rich or lean bog at all.

It shouldn't idle high for that long. That's weird. Maybe there's a leak somewhere.

my guess is crappy oil pkg in fuel or spoiled fuel

do you leave a preheater on your engine for extended periods of time? or use a heat gun for an excessively long time?

i sometimes leave a pre-heater for 15-20 minutes to get the engine around 205-215

VP fuel does not gum up from my most recent test

Hey guys, can someone help me out and give me the button head part # for the Paloma Limited, as I've been directed to 3 different buttons. I've been told the 28025, 28001 and 28011. I bought the 28001, which was the wrong one haha. Can anyone please confirm for me the part # for the head button on this engine? Would help out a lot as I cannot find an expanded view of the Limited and the old blue head Paloma is 28025, which is not the same as the LTD. Thanks so much

Unfortunately.... it looks like this motor is done. I dont see it on the nova direct page anymore. RIP Paloma... what a neat engine.

no worries, I got it off Novarossi last year when I couldn’t find it either. For some reason it wasn’t on their website

I purchased a Paloma Limited from ebay new in the box. It came with a Purple Novarossi head, not a Rex Orange head. Wonder if Novarossi is going to keep the engine going under their name and not Rex. I know they are one in the same though.

Does anyone know of any retailers or individuals selling NIB Paloma Limited engines? I have one in my race MP9 and it has quickly become my favorite .21 of all time. I’d really like to pick up another if I was able to find one but can’t find any for sale.
