The 2014 version was almost tight like GO but it seem the 2015 version will be less tight due the updates and the upgrade of the sleeve treatment.

I tested a 2014 engine when we were interested in distributing them last year. They're great engines that run very well with a nice power band, and they should be priced really really well.
NICE , the most important once quality control is sorted ive seen is image and marketing approach.. as we have that many brands.. you could say we have engines for the newbie , club racer , club racer/national competitor which over laps into international competitor as once your skill is up there then with the right set up clutch , venturi , glow plug , tune.. point being a good looking engine with a web page and personal contact from racers that rep and are genuine goes a long way.. hehe look forward to this year.. :D |

The 2015 version of the VORTEX with some updates will be available in middle of january.
1 - the burn room has been modified to advance the ignition timing. 2 - the conrod has been changed completely with a different stroke length and a single copper bushing insert. 3 - the sleeve has been modified to change the intake and exhaust timing to increase the high speed limit. The stroke of piston has been changed to increase life expectancy and to increase the oil retention ability on the surface of the sleeve and the micro-grooves are increased for an additional oil content. 4 - to maintain a higher degree of stability of the carburetor, the High Speed Needle has been modified. 5 - the cooling head color has been slightly modified. https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8617/...6f13279eba.jpg

Is that price right $200 euro, thats about $300 AU I Thought it would be much cheaper.
|
i would of thought that the engine would be at most 250.. but being that it does come with exhaust 300 may just be reasonable.. dont you think..

€200 ink. pipe for a decent engine nowadays is good. Glad to see it if it's true. You can't really equate prices based solely on exchange rates anyway.
|
agreed..

At mid break in now on this engine /pipe setup. Was a bit eratic at first probably due to the pinch but is starting to calm down and sit at a nice idle. Anybody run into a pingy lean sound during break in. Im sure this engine is not on the lean side at all. Not slobbery but atleast 2 hours outa race tune at this point. Runs well though and seems like a stout engine thus far.

ok.. hmm curious curiouser.... keep us updated.. 100 - 120c start up from new is ideal .. theres a connection between GO and these engines but its a OS V spec base.. so should be a sweet well priced engine none the less , in the past when running in a GO ie.. i had put the pre heating a touch up due to pinch 130 - 140 for starting and then maintain at 110 - 120...

absolutly, engine was heated to between 190 and 210f. Headed with gun then a head heater. Head covered during first 3 intervals . Used the houston break in method that has worked flawlessly for so far. Engine is ready to rip. Holds a great idle and seems to plenty for the truggy its in. Yes its is almost identical to a v.spec os.

Mfg don't care about distribution anymore. They are a dime a dozen
shame they could have done well if they did care.. if thats the case.. |
The Arrow GTR-II Plus 3+2 p/s can also be used in the Atom Vortex engines if you want a little more power for truggy.
|
Where can I buy this engine? How much does it cost?

I just modified an Atom for a guy, wow they have a ton of crank timing stock! More than any other engine I have seen, including on-road engines. I am curious what guys think of the powerband on these?

Rex I don't know what would be the point of modifying them, there's no timing to be added, it's already maxed out. I ran an Arrow a few years back and the powerband was very mellow, smooth delivery on the bottom end. |
Engine took everything i threw at it all season. Every bit a smooth, fast and reliable as my 400 dollar fx. Both engines behaved almost identical all year. Guys cant beleive the combo price when they ask what the heck do i have in my buggy. And for 70. Bucks for a rebuild u cant beat it. Engine still has great compression as well. All i can say is it will not disappiont
