Default Fuel consumption and leak issue

Ok, I have a pro 21r engine by thunder tiger (appears to be the same as team associated and a couple other brand .21 engines). Anyways, I have much experience with electric rc modles as I have several brushless vehicles however I recently purchased a nitro buggy (thunder tiger mirage vspec) and had issues getting it running from the start, I ended up adjusting the hsn and lsn and eventually got it to start with the hsn was set at 2.5 turns out from all the way in and the lsn was set about 1.5-2 turns out from flush. While running I was able to bring lsn in to about 1 turn in past flush. I noticed that I went thru nearly an entire tank of fuel in no more than 3-5 min of run time and my pull start line becomes soaked with fuel after a while of trying to start. Not sure if fuel is leaking on it while runing as is was already soaked by the time I got it started. I don't know a whol lot about nitro engines and what characteristics they carry. I am running Byron Fuels Race Gen2 20% nitromethane 12% lubrication. Please help me, any info helps. Thanks.

If it was an air leak going into the motor, you would have lots of problems. From what it sounds like, you may have a torn exhaust gasket. That would cause your pull start to be coverd with fuel and oil. Clean it off really well and fire it up. If it has a leak, you should be able to find it while it sits on the bench pulsing the throttle. Dont forget to double up your exhaust springs as this will cause a leak upon landing and large bumps.

As far as run time, you may need to adjust your needles some more.

How does it run. Does it take off from iddle well but struggle to make speed. That would mean your low side is good but your hight side is too rich. Problem with this is that when you lean out the high side, it will also lean the low side at the same time so you need to richen it a bit. Google the instructions/ manufactures recomendations for the needle settings if you can but it sounds like you a pretty close.

Dont forget, RTR motors are not the best in milage and power. They are put these in there to get people into the hobby. Also, the pipes are 10 times worse on fuel milage than anything else. I would buy a decent tuned pipe and that could solve all you problems. Happy hunting
