What are you using as a power source the comp heater is a excellant safe product but if you jacking up the volts you will have issues. 12 volts Max

Make your next heater a Comp Heat and never look back.....

And this is the prime reason why I'm glad I bought a genuine Competition Heat......two actually. My first one is close to three years old, and doesn't have a stitch out of place. Only reason I sold it to my buddy is because I got a deal on the new Deutsch connector version.

I understand the allure of lower price, but I had a good feeling that the "Thunder Imitation" was going to have quality issues. :nod:

I have two of the Thunder heaters and both have burned through the fabric in 6 Months of use. If i'd only known - I would not have thrown out my previous 3 comp heaters after the heat element stopped working. I could have used the old comp heaters case with the thunder heater element.

Regardless of which product I buy I can only get 6 months out of them. Running two classes and using the heaters for longer than there intended to be and connected to my 13.8 volt power supply.

After owning both they look the same but are different. The thunder is cheaper in cost and quality.

The worst was when my pit guy pulled on the wire to remove the heater and pulled the wire right out of the element on my brand new first time out thunder heater.

Your not having fun unless your spending money:)

They have good customer service and will warranty any manufacture defects.

I have been lucky, mine is 8 months old and still looks new. I have only seen a few burn through like yours. To prevent this, TI said not to use over 12.6v. Do not use an automotive battery because they are over 12.6v fully charged and make sure if you use a power supply, it is not putting out more then 12.6v because many actually put out over 13v. I use a 3 cell lipo to power mine.

Exactly right! i guess its easy to blame the product first though.

I have been using mine for several months now with zero issues, i am using 3 cell lipo as power source. It clearly states in the instructions not to use above 12.6v which automotive batteries will be.

I know a guy who paid a premium for the comp heat version and it only lasted 3 or 4 months before the wires broke at the element. Product fault or operator error??

Thats what I bought a power supply with adjustable voltage a typcally power supply uses over 13V NOT good. Before moving into a Comp heater I used the Thunder heaterit burned really bad and tossed on the ground then my son kicked it and by luck it went into a storm drain called for a replacment > they said i was crazy :lol:

Comp and their products are BETTER with GREAT service.

Update, Just heard back from Thunder Innovations and all is good, He is going to replace unit, he is sending out next week, hopfully new one will not have same problem Cheers Phil
