Default Help With Nova Pipe & Header?

Hey guys I would like to try a Nova pipe and header. I am running the Nova P5xlt and right now with the OS 2060 mileage is not real good. There are a lot of different choices in pipes & headers so I am looking for some advice as I am new to Nova. What would be a good pipe & header and this will be run in a Mugen MBX6r? Looking for the pipe offereing the best runtimes without really affecting performance a ton. Any suggestions?

I run the p5 with the nova 9886 and medium round header and it rips with around 10 mins run time.

The 9901 and 2096 are also realy good pipes for the p5xlt. 9901 being smooth and great on fuel. 2096 having more bottom, very smooth, and still great on gas.

Also the dynamite 053 and 086 are good pipes if your on a budget.

Iv heard 9853 pipe 020 header or 2084 for that engine, also the 9901 makes it have a bit more top.

Ok, so just generally speaking, the 9901 would be a good pipe as far as run times and top end goes and would probably be the best pipe for run times? Probably mate it with a 020 header and be good to go?

9901 should be OK ( will tame it down )..... 9853 will absolutely kill the engine.............My vote a 9886 on the shortest manifold possible

Hi'

I used to run the short Mugen header (41029) and the 9901ss pipe on my old P5XLT in truggy and found power to be good right thru the rpm range and it would do over ten minute run time no worries at all

I would think in buggy the same combo would be perfect or a 2096 pipe on that header

tho I hate the 2060 pipe, you should still be able to get some decent mileage from it..... I Am curious how big your idle gap is ? I am going to take a guess here and say you have your idle gap opened too far and your LSN set too rich..... Mileage comes from fine tuning the needles and making sure your setup is dialed.....

I ran the os 2050 on my old p5xs one time and it wasnt good at all,it just killed the engine. Then i put on the 9886 and round header and it opened up nice makeing power from bottom to top.I would stick with nova pipes if i were you. 9886,9901,2096,pick one and you should be happy.

mjealey do you run at Battlefeild r/c? I know a few of the Knoxville racers were down yesterday. I have a 9886 pipe you can try out and see if you like it, if your ever down this way.

Yeah I was there. I raced 1/8 electric yesterday, (blur & green Mugen) and 1/10 electric buggy. Did not run nitro as the Durango is all cleaned up and ready for the selling block yesterday..

There is a little more room for improvement on the bottom end. Idle gap is where it needs to be, but just a hair rich still. My OS pipe is old and looks like it has been through a war. I figured I would get a Nova pipe as I have never tried them and be ready for the race in January at Alan Burton's track to match the new MBX6r when it comes in. I am going to order a couple different pipes and headers and try them out. I will let you guys know what I find. The p5xlt is still only running 210 and making a lot of power so I know there is room for more leaning out to get the run time out of it. BY the January race I will have it dialed and getting 10 minutes I bet!!!!
