I like the power of my V2. I have stuck with the re11 pipe for now. Didnt like the 2058 on it. No one would know i run a Arrow though. My front bearing started leaking so bad that i swapped all the guts and put the arrow crank, sleeve/piston in a OS V-spec case which already had new ceramic bearings in it. Still rips.
Once this motor is retired i will pick up a V3 model. Love these engines. |
The new Arrow-Racing GTR-21 Ver III .21 engine is now in stock at Hobby Pro USA. The engine has been redesigned to have less mechanical pinch to make engine break in easier and allows the engine to be started the first time with less effort. This also puts less stress on the con rod and allows a race tune to be put on sooner. He is the explaination from the manufacture: We have done a number of minor adjustments to help with the initial start-up process for end-users. But ultimately this was done without affecting the engine's overall lifespan. The idea was brought up long ago but it was only until the beginning of the last production schedule, we were able to bring this element in. From our drawings and the actual sample, we were able to locate a slight increase of 20 microns in tolerance at 2 points of the surface between the sleeve and piston. The tightness has since been eased off by 0.1 mm with standardized insertion pressure. In the end result, the engine is easier to start and this slight increase also promote a more sufficient clearance during operational heat expansion. Thus, in general the new engine requires less time, effort and money to complete the breaking-in process. I have not had time to break in my new one yet, but I took it apart and the piston can now be pushed up into the sleeve much farther. I compared it to a new OS XZ-B piston and sleeve and I was able to push the piston up the same distance on both engine (both new never started). So it should break in much easier now, probably half the time (.75 gallons vs 1.5 gallons). Hobby Pro USA has sold out of Ver II engines, so all engines ordered as on today will be the new Ver III engine. With the V3, it gets better. It show the dedication of this new engine company in order to give better products to us. |
While the first time isn't fun, I can say the second time around breaking one of these in goes like clockwork. :tire: The Arrow sleeve material is still much harder than the the O.S. sleeves, so even a looser fit on the V3 should last longer than the O.S. ones.

I'm not sure what version I got...but whats a good temp for these motor? I got 2gallons in it

I been running it around 220F It all depends on the fuel, pipe, gearing, track surface, clutch, ect. I run my arrow between 235'-290'f. Tune for power, not temps. |

From my experience there is no good temp for nitro engines. Some run good at 195', some run good at 350'.

anyone else experiense the cooling fins to fall off?Never happend to me before with novarossi.
The pinch in this arrow is nothing conpered to nov 4btt. In the low rpm this motor (arrow)seem a little bit weak, but it is smooth. And it seems to like it at the hot side arround 266+ while the novarossi perform better at around under 265.. I think the novarossi have a better bottom and middle and thats make it easier for me to drive it in my track with a lot of jumps after the curves and a lot of 180 curves. When all that is said i still have to see how it wil perform in the track without the brake in shim.Did try it outside my house yesterday and there was some inprovment. yesterday was also the first day the temp was over 248f. Did put it a little lean on lsn and a tad richer on msn and leand out the hsn to a steady 266f....and it seemed better than ever before. If the wether is ok i wil test it on the track tuesday. But keep in mind that arrow is half the price of nov 4btt i am using RB 2087+192 i might try out the longer bend to get more bottom. But i dont like to loose the top.. |
anyone else experiense the cooling fins to fall off? I would be worry if the top part fall off. But it didn't. Then it will affect my engine drastically. I have one Alpha 852 with the top part missing, the temperature, went much higher. And a heat sink replacement is necessary. |
it was the middle sector.I did glue it to the other fin for the moment,i guess it wil fall off.

By the way. My arrow v2 ran flawless all weekend after putting the guts in a V-spec case. |

I could lean it more but it was more fun to drive than standing in the pit and adjust the engine. AND WOW WOW WOW. I DID NOT EXPECT THIS EL CHIPO ENGIN TO GO CRACY ON THE TRACK.IT WAS SO F#¤% FAST AND SO #U#¤STRONG AND SMOOTH . IM SO HAPPY I BOUGHT TWO OF THIS MONSTER. Non other was faster on the track,i can get used to this;) |

need a little more top speed
I've been running the re11 and get pretty good runtime, but need a little more top speed. Will the re10 give it more top?
|
Good to hear that. I did the break in of my engine las weekend, and it was a PAIN IN THE ASS to start. Doing the first race with it this coming weekend. Hopefully it will go well Nevertheless, the break-in doesn't justify the performance of the engine. New V3, is good though. It puts the confidence back to users regarding the break in issue on break in time and money on fuel used. I've been running the re11 and get pretty good runtime, but need a little more top speed. Will the re10 give it more top? Drive ratio: 11.42 The only draw back is the price. You may want to try it out. The low end might be less. But sufficient in those high speed track. I compensate the low end with 4 pcs Alu ( 4 X 1.0 mm spring ) - JVD Racing clutch. And it sorta balance out from low to high speed. |
