Modd head button
When people put 3 grooves on the head botton, does it do anything? Does it lower compression then too?

OK, so a better burn. Now how many go on one of our head buttons. Does it matter where they are positioned? Do you want one over the exhaust port?

One of the well known mods to the head button is the teardrop above the exhaust. RB had it standard in their C5-Rody modified but did give later a free exchange to a normal button head, do not know why...
I had a long discussion with Mr Singh and he advised me to start with 3 and indeed one of them above the exhaust. I did notice a stronger shifting to the 2nd gear with ny onroad so the claim of a wider powerband is true. The other claim of less fuel consumption I did not notice. On the other hand my friend did try the same mod on his 23cc bigscale engine and he did notice a longer driving time on one tank. For him driving 30 minutes on one tank was critical but with th 3 grooves he did get some extra minutes and he also did notice a wider powerband. Because the combustion chamber of such bigscale engine is in one piece with the cilinder it very difficult to get the grooves in so he is making them into the top of the piston. |
OK I have an extra button so I think I will try it out. I'll start pretty small with the cuts and see if I notice anything. Thanks.

The articul also stated that it lowers cylinder temps? Very intresting stuff, if it works. |

Ok, got it figured out. This is the C5 Rody button that was spoke of in earlier post. The big cutout is stock on the RB C6 USA. The smaller 2 cuts are from the modder that did my engine. Big cutout faces exhaust.

The trick of the very small cuts is that it will not affect the working of squish band and so also the combustion itself.
They do steer a part of the combustion into the direction of the squish band so the pressure will be more equal spread over the squish band. Mr Sing has the best results with real scale turbo engines which do have a high combustion power as we in scale also have with our engines. |
I'll do a dyno test on this technique this afternoon if anyone is interested...any preferred orientation ?

That would be very cool Maximo. As for the cuts i don't know exactly where to put them.
I'm not really looking for more power, but longer run times. So I don't know if the dyno will tell me what i'm looking for. I thought if it burns more of the fuel mix it will be more effiecant. |

Most of these are real car and go kart heads but there are a few of a single groove RC head. |
