Most of these are real car and go kart heads but there are a few of a single groove RC head.

coool thanks

I will do some testing today, and post my results back this evening....Should be pretty interesting !

I would think you'd have to readjust the head.

If you do the 3-groove mod, maybe also an idea to rotate the button head 180 degrees to see if it has some influence.

I've seen it done , I've played with it , it definitely works but needs to be scaled down to our engine size.

Fyi , it works better done just inside the actual combustion chamber part of the head button ;)

Reason its not widely used in our engines (micromotor nitro) is it has an inconsistant power delivery and odd power band transfers .

Pluses are increased fuel and max rpm gains along woth cooler running temps

Houston, when you say inconsistant power delivery, are you saying the motor flames out alot or stumbles at low rpm sometimes or what? How many cuts did you use? How deep were the cuts? Were the run times noticly better? How much cooler? Any input is very apperciated.

i am talking fluctuations in power delivery , like spikes in certain rpm and dips in other

runtimes on average were probably 20% better , temps i would say about 15-25% cooler ( depended on engine design ) , tried several three cut methods and the one that had the most consistency and gains in all areas was the .25mm deep cuts inside the combustion chamber of the head button in counter clckwise fashion (pics needed to explain fully ;)

jbright33 10-23-2010 12:30 PM

interesting

dayglo33 10-23-2010 01:08 PM

Now you know i'm going to ask for a picture! Are you saying that you put the cuts closer to the glow plug when you say you put the cuts in the combustion chamber? Are they angled then too?
The spikes and drops were on a dyno I take it? Did you run the motor in a truggy or buggy?

jbright33 10-24-2010 05:39 PM

hmm what happend i was watching this thread was very interested in it. neal did you do any testing?

Did you manage to do some testing?

I am going to right away...I had to put together a dyno mule to test with...Alll I had broken in and ready to roll were some pricey engines ...So I didn't want to experiment with anything too expensive

that was a good half hour of reading , although a few sections were just reiterations of previous sections there was some great info and i feel inspired to do a little more testing :D
