If we have a round 3 can you list the most popular engine models instead of the engine manufacturer which produces a number of good and some bad engines. For that I nominate

i dont think that would work due to you have 10 engines now and there is no werks b6... no rg by os. 2 different alpha engines. 6 different rb engines.. the list would be way to long to make a pol of just 10 and have even 50% of the guys happy.. this way general brands will keep all the motors for the most part in the game..

me too... wait a minute:eek: i made this poll :cry:... i went back thru the first poll and these are the brands/motors guys wanted to see on the list... this is my point:weird: there are so many good engines that we as consumers argue so much on which brand/motor is better... they all have different feel, power and so on... we should all be happy to have so many choices to run...

You had to be here at the 1st poll to get it.

You have to remember this forum isn't just for racers! Axial is pretty popular engine for the bashers, and monster truck guys!:nod:

I do understand that this thread is supposed to be a poll, and I do not wish to undermine Mr Whitling's work in any way since I believe that this is a great thread. However, the thought crossed my mind that forum members could post their top three favourite engine brands, which may allow a wider range of engine brands to be available for all participating members to peruse/comment. Just a thought... :)

i am not against it just there are so many choices to choose from... if there was a way to make a 10 motor field i would go to round three but just my opinion it there is 20 very good motors from 10 motor brands... lets see what happens...

You are right, we are very lucky to have so many to choose from. Start flying nitro helis and you have 3 or 4 to choose from and that is it!

Cool to see how close the top 3 are staying. I thought a few of the others would have alot more hits by now.

Its good for the hobby to see some many engines getting votes. Even though we all pretty much knew that OS, Werks, and Nova would lead the way. When engine companies see that there may not be a clear favorite it will keep them competitive and keep producing quality mills at an affordable price. ( at least I hope so ) Its also nice for me to see how many votes Go has recieved. Not to start trouble but I have been hearing horror stories about them from day one and this poll has proven to me that all the negative things I have heard have to be nothing more than false rumors. I am sure nobody would have voted for any engine that was worthy in some fashion. I am actually now thinking about the possibility of trying one of the new Go engines based solely on the votes of this pole

Jeremy, if I could makema suggestion it would be to do just like what you did after the 1st poll. Take the top five brands for the next poll and take 2 engines from each brand and run a poll on them. Either that or do a seperate poll listing 10 different engines do the first poll for buggy and then another poll for truggy, all depends on how detailed you want to be.


Jaz240, I have to agree with you that the results are a little surprising to me also. Speaking now strictly about the US I have a pretty good idead about what most peoples sales are like. I think this thread is a little skewed because its a global forum, so there are people on it from all over the world. This affects the stats a bit i think because if you for instance take my sales into accout, about 95% of our business is in north america so we do verry little sales outside the US right now. Some of the brands like OS and Nova are more global, brands such as Go I think are more established in Australia etc. Etc. If you forminstance look at RB they to me have pretty much disapeared here in the US over the last couple of years (a personal oppinion just based on what i see at the tracks) but they are still doing ok in the poll which I can understand because in Europe and some parts of Asia they are a strong brand. So as mentioned I think that demographics plays a role in these results.

I should add that just to be clear nothing that I'm saying is meant to be negative (about any brand) it's just an observation that i am making based on the results that I am seeing here and is not meant in any way to offend anyone. Just adding that in there:)

But the thing is even tho the brands are sorta skewed due to the popularity in the perticular country, we as well as almost all the other countries out there can buy a werks, or a go, etc. We choose not to bc we want to run what has a proven track record or what fits our budget. RB is dying bc there priced high and performance isn't any better then there rivals. I believe werks has really caused RB's slide to happen even quicker here in the states! It's hard to beat the price and performance of a werks!:nod:

:lol: sorry to say mr werks, but the GO sales in the US have gone through the roof with the release of the GX & MG range of motors & with 2 MGs qualifying for the worlds in pattaya in november these motors are now up there with the best of them. this poll is suppose to be fun, & to gauge what people like from their experience with different motors, not for the company men to use for marketing purposes as only a small percentage of us nitro nuts will find this thread anyway ;) from my experience the OS, NOVA & RB are great motors but for $ value against reliability & performance i can't go past the GO range. all brands have there lemons & newbies that give a brand negative feeback. most motors on the market today, in the right hands, can win a major event ! the growth of our hobby is testament to the quality that is avaliable out there at the moment JMO :D:lol::cool:

I say leave this poll going for awhile. I think pretty much all of the engines that were requested are in this one. Let it run and see what happens after a couple months or so, maybe even a year. Could be interesting!:nod:

Yep me too. At that level though there are about 10 or 12 guys that can win and having seen how challenging the track is I think that it is probably going to come down to who has the least amount of problems and needs to be turn marshaled the least. So a bit of luck is going to be involved here!

Truth is the right driver can win with any engine and/or any chassis with the right set/up, some dedication, a good strategy and some luck

Problem is that the winner can have the same results with a dozen different brands. Then everyone thinks that's the greatest engine.

Too true, however I still remember about 8 years ago or so when I believe it was STS was running some type of ad's about paying 10k contingency for making the A-main at the nats and Saxton went and did it lol! If I remember correctly though he was running a new engine every qualifier though, but he still did it! The same thing happened when we were testing in Pattaya. We were pitted off to the side and it seemed like every day there were a group of people breaking in engines right next to us. As you can imagine listening to that for 5 days gets a little old so I asked what was going on and found out that they were running new engines every other day lol! So I guess anything is possible at these type of events!

No worries, i have no problem debating things with people. I actually edited my post because I did not want it to come across as too confrontational but as long as we can talk like adults and keep it shall we "say to the point" without getting upset, which you obviously can do I have no issues.
