I was just wondering if there were still some out there that race with .28 engines?

Talking .28

I still run 2 engines.

A Mugen MR B01 .28, just pulled because it's leaking fuel from the head.

And a Werks B7 .28 which I just finished rebuilding and I am going to put back

into the Mugen. (Need to be broken in).

Funny enough, fuel mileage for me isn't too bad. I don't tend to have a

really heavy finger and I tend to roll on the throttle so my fuel consumption

is about 8 or 9 minutes per fueling. (At last when I ran the Ninja)

28's your waste to much gas if you plan to run use the OS 28xz great power using a 2060 pipe you will get average 8min run time at TRCC and i was getting 9 but your clutch and tires is key. Also it puts a lot of stress on your drive train you will be replacing more frequently

Get JX21 or speed if your looking for cheap motor get the new OS21XZ replacing the vspec or a B5 Werks. Alphas are good too from the read but its drops off on the high side but our track is small you wont notice.

I run a .28 in my truggy. You don't need to hammer it to clear the big stuff so the milage is pretty good acually. You also don't need to be spot on with the tune because you have power to spare so you can tune conservative promoting longer engine life.Lower reving .28 should be easier on rods and bearings too. New Losi 454 $100.00 on ebay,I am not putting my $280.00 V Spec .21 back in anytime soon. For top level racing yea .21 for sure.If you can control the throttle finger a .28 is sweet for club racing. On a technical track the extra low end grunt comes in handy. And I don't get passed on the front straight either.(unless I am pulling in for that one extra stop in a 20 min main just to be safe)

The Go Gen 5 3R $120.00 on ebay is kickin as* in my buggy.Losi RE11 pipe smooth bottom, starts kickin in the middle and revs alittle more out the back.

Currently no, but thinking of putting my GRP .28 Tuned with header and pipe from the kit version in my RC8T FT.

Talking Last comment

BTW - That last comment?? Well,,

I don't know that guy..

Anyway, I agree, you don't have to be spot on with tuning, but, if you are??

Boy, what an enormous amount of torque.

Tires are key as I find I am spinning them way too much. Hard to drive when

you are spinning the tires. I guess I need to convert my brain to drift mode

when driving with a .28.

Fuel isn't much an issue since you don't really need to stick you finger in it.

Woo. Stick you finger in it. Hmm. That didn't sound too good.

You know what I mean. Don't Ya..????

I think that simple "no" pretty much answered the question. Reality is that there really isn't a place for .28's anymore. With the battle all about fuel mileage these days and the power our .21's produce, .28's just aren't needed and are a disadvantage 9 times out of 10.

well i could see for a club race engine if thats all you do is club race. but if you go to a bigger event and switch to a .21 then your car is totally different, i practice with what i race with, and i club race with what i race in bigger events with

I have a pro twister modded grp .28 that is crazy powerful. With a 6 restrictor, I can still pull any thing any where on the track but it is too powerful and only good on big tracks.

I would like to try one of those 1/8 scale ovals with this thing.

Great bashing engines or farting around on a small club track. I can hardly keep up with clutches, axles and rear gears with a high strung .21.

I really like my .28 and I can get pretty good fuel mileage out of it too, but I was just asking to see if I was the last of the Mohicans.

.28's are pointless. A .21 can do anything a .28 does and will give you more run time. If you disagree then why does everyone have .21 and not .28 and why is .28 not favored? IMO they arent good but if you have one dont waste it run it.

That is kind of why I asked the question. I see guys with .21 pitting anywhere from 7 to 11 mins. I normally come in at 8 to 8:30 but I still have fuel in the tank. I run in the B mains right now and it is only 15 mins so I stop at 8 to refuel.

Really just wondering why everyone prefers .21 over .28 that's all.
