Our club just had our annual Hobbyworld Classic race this past weekend. My engines were flawless once again. They ran so good I felt like I was cheating lol:D. They were stable, fast and reliable all weekend long! I ended up taking 1st place in truggy by 2 laps, and 2nd place in buggy ( 13 seconds behind the leader ) so I was pretty amped since I haven't raced buggy since '09, which was my first season running that class.

I love my CRE mills, they allow me to focus on racing instead of tuning, and combined with my Serpent cars, it amounts to a very fun weekend! Thanks again guys, couldn't be happier with this combination.

Congrats Nid, Im sure it was a Fun race. Those Xcons look like they took a beating.

Sorry to have not made the trip, Just wasn't in the cards.

Are you still planning on coming down for our Nova Race ?

NitroFreakManHo 06-27-2012 10:11 AM

Thanks Nick! Believe it or not, the X-Cons in that pic have over 1.5 gallons on them, and still have over 90% of the tread left on them lol( I know it doesn't look that way in the pic)..I've been using that same set since the beginning of the race season..I've never ever gotten that much life out of one set of tires..they seem to be the hot ticket at our track, my truggy was glued to the track with them. John and I also ran the buggy X-Cons, and again, they were great, John seems to like them as much as I do.

It would have been great to have the Winnipeg boys down for the race, it's always a blast having you guys out racing with us, but I understand that sometimes things don't work out as we would like them.

I really want to come to the August race in Winnipeg, and intend on it, but, I've been having staffing nightmares at the restaurant..if I can get it sorted out before then, I'll make the trip out but I'm unsure at this time..pray for me Brotha!

Is lucky 7 engine sealant sufficient for blocking the vacuum return port in my Clocked P5? I saw that in his video, Neal used threebond 1211 to block it, but its too expensive and I have Lucky 7 sealant anyway.

Thanks

I used oil resistant silicone from autozone. A small tube doesn't cost much. I believe lucky 7 is too thin for that application.

I didn't turn the screw a half turn all at once. It was 4 adjustmments that totaled a half turn. I had good smoke all along and it was blubbering rich till the last adjustment. I have telemetry and 298 got my attention quick so I backed off the throttle to cool it down, but it ran great at that temp. I've checked my temp senser for accuracy and its within 5 degrees. 298 seems hot but it ran great with good smoke. I run byrons 30% and 11% oil....

Try Neal's brake cleaner test behind the fly wheel. I bet your engine will die. I found when my front bearing was sucking in alot of air it ran good but temps were high.

Does the P5 have the vacuum port return?

Yes

oghobavo 06-28-2012 04:23 AM

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what exactly is a vacuum port return?

Its a little hole in the front of the crankcase right behind the front bearing connecting to the bottom of the carb part of the crankcase, when you remove the carb you will see it below the O ring. It creates suction at the front bearing creating allowing the engine to breath through the front bearing if it is leaking even slightly.... this makes the engine run erratically.

Im about to order a CRE P5, Neal your modded P5, does it have the Vacuum Port or do you block it?

Also what front bearing comes with it, and what's your advise on what bearings?

the bypass port is blocked.....

i would install a upgrade bearing in the P5...the 17011 is a good choice,

How does your modded Plus 4 compare to the modded P5 for a buggy?

Up till today I would say the P5 is a fair bit stronger..... but we started running the Plus4's on JP-3's and they absolutely scream on the pipe........ LOL.................. So now its hard to say if the Plus4 runs a JP3......
