So what's a good clutch setup for the clocked b5 with 2013 pipe on an M2C (Truggy)?

I want it to be very smooth and driveable, not instant wheel spinning action. I have the medium shoes with the variable weight flywheel, plus all the option springs. Thanks

2 .9 springs on HARD shoes 2 1.0 springs on MEDIUM shoes.
If you dont want to get HARD shoes run the same springs on your 4 medium
shoes.Personally i like 4 HARD shoes on the b5 2013 with that same clutch setup. And I run all the set screws in the fly wheel as well.

I havent used the M2C clutch but that sounds like a smooth set up. I take it as the harder shoes will alow some slip with the softer springs? I run the Losi shoes/ flywheel/ springs. I run 2 Losi long Life Aluminum shoes with gold springs and 2 carbon shoes with green springs. Its nice and smooth and the B5 deffinetly has the grunt to carry the truck out of a tight corner to a short run double/triple. I only go to a full alluminum setup when the track is way hooked. The damn B5 has so much power down low, I'v burned up a set of JC Sevens up in a 30 minute main on a tight track. Not complaining about it.

So Neal, have you tried the Alpha 0801 pipe on your modded Argus? Just curious how it compares to the 2013.

Yes I did...I prefer the 2013......the 2081 was good, but the 2013 seemed snappier and more responsive...plus the 2013 has that killer sound to it !

Hello all you CRE junkies.......... Well chalk up another good outing with my Clocked Werks B5 at the Nitro Pit last Saturday night. We started our night schedule, maybe a little to early it was windy and cold..... This time out Neal had me pull a head shim out and adjust the idle gap. Expert buggy was full of fast Az drivers so I knew it would be tough to qualify or finish the main in the top five. Before the races started I fired up my Clocked B5 to get a little practice in and to see how different my engine was after the changes we had made. I still use my comp heater every time I run my B5 it just makes it a lot easier on everything and I love using it. On my first practice lap I could see a dramatic difference in power, it made me think that I should have practiced the day before to get used to the power.
Q1 was good my engine ran smooth with lots of bottom and top end. I ran a solid 9 lap run and finished third. Run times were about 9 mins or so which is good for such a large layout.
Q2 was going good until my clutch screw backed out and flamed me out, my bad..
The main was very exciting to say the least. I ended up qualifying fifth after my marvelous finish in Q2. Once we got started I was lucky enough to get my clocked B5 powered MBX6 up into second place in the first couple laps with Dave Burt (local fast guy) and Chris Wheeler right on my butt. 3 mins in I crashed which puts me in a battle for fourth with Dave Burt. Everyone who started was still on the lead lap halfway thru the race it was a good one. Dave and I continued to battle for what seemed like an eternity which was only like 15 mins or so. With about 6 mins left I get around Dave on hold him off till about the one min mark. I case the landing on the big double in the back which let's Dave by to take the four spot....... My engine ran great all night it was exciting to run such a powerful engine. I ran the M2C variable weight clutch system with four weights installed and with reg hard shoes sprung black and red...... Thanks to Neal and John for all they do for us AZ guys........

Try sluging your flywheel to different weights. I am running a full weighted flywheel with 2 black and 2 yeallow springs with medium shoes and 2013 pipe 7mm restricto. I can tell a substantial difference using the weights, excellent tuning option.

I am going to lighten up the flywheel when my 2058 get's here.

hey neal, my jpx still has killer compression and power. just opened her up and she was in better shape then i thought. Everything was nice and golden. got a few gallons left!

I'll start with the all the weights, as I am used to a heavier steel flywheel. I will fool around with the springs as well.

Hmm, so right now I only have medium shoes. As I said I want it as controllable as possible. I'm going to run all of the weights, but not sure on the springs.

-Two 1.0 Blacks and two .9 Reds?
-Two 1.0 Blacks and two .95 yellows?
-Four .95 yellows?
-Or two .95 yellows and two .9 reds?

Our tracks have good traction, but when they are new they're a little loose.

thanks

I followed the instructions that came with the M2C clutch. It says the more powerful the engine the softer springs you should use. There's is not to many engines more powerful that Neal's B5 so I went with all the weights and 2 .90 and 2 .95 springs in buggy and it's pretty damn perfect. I would probably go with half the weights and all 4 .95 or 2 .95 and 2 1.0 in truggy to compensate for those huge heavy tires.

start with 1.0's till you learn how this engine tunes.....once you have it dialed in then look into clutching with lower springs if needed !

Yes, use all 1.0 springs. Clocked B5 isn't a light switch on bottom end. It delivers power much better than stock. The mid and top is where it excels. And throw those damn setscrews in the trash unless it's going in a buggy.
