Alan, as Jason stated that engine seems to like a hot or ultra hot plug. The PR R3 plugs work very well or OS P3 work well I've run both. I haven't tried any other brand ultra-hot plugs personnally though they should work as long as they're turbo plugs. In my experience the idle is less stable and overall performance not as strong with a cooler plug than at least a hot.

Hey the hobby shop is out of 30% would it matter to break it in on 25%?
|
I know some people add more oil but I always try to breakin with what I'm racing with... I would wait for your normal fuel.
|
Ill have to wait over a week to start breaking it in. That wont work. I know i'll have to mess with the tune. But the biggest I can get 30% right now is 2 quarts of cold fusion. But I wanted to use byrons. But only 25% is in stock till next week. Guess im racing with 25%

He has 2 small bottles left. Quarts I think. If he's going to keep it in stock I might get those two for break in. What's the changes you saw that made you stick with it...either way. The beast should be here sometime today :-)
|
BigAlz, the biggest difference I noticed was a crisper throttle response on the low end and cooler temps.
|
Ill have to check if he's going to keep it in stock p.s. my PR21BS is here.. looks great!

i ended up just getting a gallon byrons 25% i remember i ran it before and only noticed a little bit of difference when i went from that to 30% . so once i learn how to tune this thing ill probly jump to the 30% though. i ran almost 1/2 a gallon through it yesterday. in 3-4min heat cycles. i feel like i messing with the carb alot each cycle to keep it going. it was SUPER fat set flush and and flush. it wouldnt run with out the igniter on it. but i got it now. its still really fat. the temps drop each cycle about 10deg. so i adjust it to keep it back at 200.. then it ends up being around 218 after the cycle..next cycle same thing. wont hardly it 190.. adjust it a little more to hit 200... all this is heating it to around 190 with a heat gun and having the head wrapped and about 40ish deg outside and a os p3. its still really fat on the top side forsure. if i try to take that away the temps jump pretty fast. i assumed cause the head was wrapped it just wasent ready to be leaned out with out the head opened up? i think im going to have to start over again forsure. i can tell im going to be happy with the power this thing makes though  just need to figure this tunning thing out a little better lol.
quick P.S. lol i finally ran accross the go carb tunning methods. and i really think im stuck in the fat bottom girl thing they talk about over in the GO post lol. ill mess with it tonight. hopefully shes ready to rip for saturday. |
................ was that a tumble weed?

the HSN is REALLY sensitive on these carbs so 1 to 2 HOURS not turns will make a HUGE difference...so first lean the bottom a tad so it idles on its own and then adjust the HSN by 1 hour till it stays at a steady 220 degreesF or more....200 degrees or lower is not really enough heat to expand the sleeve..BUT if thats all you can get it will be fine:D...remember the HSN is REALLY sensetive so dont turn it in 1/8 turns like other motors;)

I haven't even messed with it. But I had to lean the bottom a good bit to make it idle. But its forsure still fat. Def on top. But im still taking it easy on it. Its wanti g to temp around 216 with the head wrapped. Hopefully its drops alot when I take it off.. cause I have some leaning to do! Lol. I felt like I had to lean the bottom alot from flush. But im really not sure who's eyes we are using for flush. Im at around 2 turns in from my opinion of flush...its still blowing crap all over..
