Well we got the modified Boost to run nearly 14 minutes till dry in a Buggy.... initially we were running stock shimming and a JL#4 plug....temps running at 285 degrees and running about 9.5 minutes.... took a shim out of the head and installed a Picco P6TH plug temps 230-240 and 13:48 runtime till dry...with more power and RPM...... can't deny it, Picco's run best on Picco plugs....

even still the Boost has nowhere even remotely close to the performance of the Jammin engines...its a nice smooth driveable engine, but big power speed demon it is not !

Neal were you running the included pipe set?
Have you had a chance to try different pipes to increase power along with your modding?
Just curious if this could make a decent Truggy enging or not.

we ran the Picco 2045, OFNA 086 and a JP-4........ if your looking for a Truggy engine get a jammin JPX, the Boost is really just a Buggy engine IMO....a very good buggy engine, but IMO too mild for a Truggy...

I would have to agree, if its a truggy motor you want you cant go past the jammin jpx 21 plus for all out balls of power and great run time and yes i will only run my picco's on picco plugs...

I have tryed the boost on the dynamite 086, picco 2045 & alpha 0801 and liked the alpha pipe the best but will try removing the shim once i get some more fuel through it and see what happens.....

Neal i ended up buying in 30 hot picco plugs so im good for a long time now with 3 picco engines on the go at the minute...

Well first major meeting with the Boost over the weekend The lad really likes the power delivery and we were getting good run times. Around the track there was not much in any engine from Alpha's to Novarossi the Picco seamed to have the power from corner to corner awesome acceleration and a real crisp sound note from the exhaust, The track had a fair straight and you could tell the Boost was way down in that area, in the way people were asking if the lad was only half throttle down the straight. I think the Picco 2046 pipe was very restrictive on the engine but due to the way Picco make there header and pipe you are buggered and with the angled exhaust on the Boost you need to run there header.... I tryed bending some but it turns to shite if you go too far. I'm going to get some boost headers and cut the ends off and Tig weld some normal ends on to play with different pipes. At the end of the day the small gap that was made down the straight we made it up on the rest of the track. I think the OS 2060 or TTR 2035 would work well on this engine.... We are going to persist with it as i think it can be a great buggy engine. The Picco Evo 4 EDO modified on the other hand in the XT8 was on fire this Picco screamed down the straight and propelled the Truggy well..... almost as good as our OS .25......

I understand you pipe issue, i have the alpha 0801 pipe fitted with a alpha header that heated and bent to suit the picco out put angle, im running the same pipe for the jammin/picco 21 plus engine and the picco 21 engine and it gives the boost that little extra rpm down the straight....but in my tests i have been running the boost in the truggy for now.....

Yep after chewing on it last night I'm defiantly going to cut headers and tig them up Sam will keep you posted, Where we raced over the weekend we have a huge two day meet there in 5 weeks just before the Victorian nats @ Mildura so have 5 week to get the Boost going better..

Anymore runtime reports? I'm looking for average runtime reports. I know runtime varies, but are we talking an 8 min, 11min, 13mins here...

I'm getting over 10 mins. I've had issues with glow plug seems the threads are not machined all the way down. I've had fuel coming from the glow plug had to really crank the glow plug in make it stop.

With the 2046 we are seeing constant 10:20'ish give or take a few seconds here and there. I still do a 8min stop in case he puts it on the lid.....

what kind of plug u using?

Picco plug the Ofna version hot. Also looking at the taper is not exactly seating all the way around. I know there are some turbo plugs where the taper is at different angle.

I had a boost doing that too...plus was leaking, a plug that normally seals very good...

Just trying to help not saying your new to r/c but what i was trying to get at is that I use the OD plug and you have to tighten them up good because i had the same problem thats all.

You may want to get rid of the chip!

The boost only seams to like the P5TH & P6TH the 5 being the Hot and 6 being Medium hot... We had put 5ltrs plus run in on our first plug normally the OS plug would have given up long before that....... Both Plugs can be found here
