Hi guys.... I guess I can shed some light on this subject, since my new company, Racer Distribution will be the importer/distributer for Tecnopower in the United States as well as Canada. Rody and myself have been working on this for some time and its finally getting to a point where we have started to bring the product into the USA.
The Tecnopower .21 is not a GRP copy. They are both based upon the original GRP .21, but the Tecnopower is 100% Rody Roem's design. The Tecno uses the same block mold but with new machining, as well as new piston/sleeve, new crankshaft with very different port timing, and of course the new carb. The Tecno & TQ engines are 2 very different engines...one by Rody, the other is the same GRP engine thats been around for some time. Think of the Tecno as the engine Rody wanted to design originally but had to comprimise with all the other parties involved. The TQ is the design that GRP came up with years ago with only a carb update. The TQ engine is still a capable engine as I am running one now and they have plenty of power, runtime annd reliability..... there's absolutely nothing wrong with the TQ/GRP engine. Its still a great engine at a great price.
You can check out a review of it (1st look) in the last R/C Car, and
the full 3pg, 2-gallon+ review in this months issue.
Post away if you have any other questions

The internals are not made in taiwan.... the engine is made right at the factory in Mantovana Italy. Be assured that these are not cookie cutter types f engines that have flooded the market in the last few years. Its not "this" engine or "that" engine with a different head, this is "Rody's engine"

The P/L and Crankshaft we use in the B01 are basically the same as the latest GRP buggy engines, we had a lot of tooling to do and organize here to make the first productions possible, so I wanted to play it safe and start from this base. Also these GRP engines were not that bad since they where having quite some good results at the Worlds Buggy in 2008. I have taken the occasion however to do some improvements in the way some parts are machined, especially for the crankcase and carburetor.
Cooling-head fixing dimensions have stayed unchanged.

Rody
What i make up from Rody's reply only the carb and inside machining of the block have changed compared to the GRP. Even bore x stroke is the same.
GRP was a very good engine tho...meaning the Tecnopower must be aswell

Other than Rody was with RB is the only relevance to RB in this thread.
I'm trying to decide whether to get the tq engine or the tecnopower. They look almost the same. Can someone please explain the differences, so I can justify spending $120 more for the tecnopower? Thanks!
