quick question: are these engines based off the GRP engine? the crank case and carb looks very similar.

Broke it in just when the racing season ended and i got a new offer for maxpower engines for the upcoming events so this would be sitting there on the shelf.

The P/L and Crankshaft we use in the B01 are basically the same as the latest GRP buggy engines, we had a lot of tooling to do and organize here to make the first productions possible, so I wanted to play it safe and start from this base. Also these GRP engines were not that bad since they where having quite some good results at the Worlds Buggy in 2008. I have taken the occasion however to do some improvements in the way some parts are machined, especially for the crankcase and carburetor.
Cooling-head fixing dimensions have stayed unchanged. Rody

I'm not, wanted to and planned on making 2 rounds so I could go but it didnt work out this year.
GRP engines were made in the Tecno Power factory... so I guess its the other way around :) The GRP engines were made under the joint efforts of 3 designers so there were many comprimises between all of them, this engine is Rody's complete design, so there are external similarities, but no internal similarities other than some parts will physically swap back and forth. Since the GRP engines years ago, the entire engine has been re-designed and vastly improved as well as updated. We have tested both engines and there is simply no comparison. If it was the same engine there would be no reason to import an identical line. very soon, my guess is mid october From what Rody is saying this engine is an updated/improved GRP which makes a really good engine even better but it's not a re-design. |
Yes they are similar, dimensions allow the parts to interchange, so you can take a Tecno P/S and install it in your worn out GRP, like my comments state.
So you could consider the Tecno an updated GRP. I guess it comes down to opinion. Since the GRP engines, the carburetor, block, connecting rod, head button, cooling head and bearing has all been re-designed for longer life, more power and reliability out of much better materials and processes. |

Still not my favorite method but does work great in a pinch. |
I've had very good luck with it so far.... I run about a half gallon through it this way (doesnt take long, couple hrs) and the last few engines have ran great and lasted :)

Is it just me or is there a contradiction between these 2 quotes from this thread? Not being negative, just critical.

What you guys must not realize is very small changes in these engines make big differences. For example... Novarossi makes engines for a lot of different companies and many of the parts are very similar between brands, yet small timing and porting changes specified by the specific brand makes for very different performing engines. I never ran a GRP but know many people that did and most everyone I raced with seemed to like them. Some of them are still around and running so I think the quality was there. I personally think there are very few people with the knowledge and skills Rody has when it comes to these engines. Many things he started on RB's years ago is still used by RB and many other engine companies. The RB B10 is the same engine Rody designed 5 years ago with cosmetic changes over the years. The guy is a world champion on the track, and has designed engines that are 3 time world champions (sounds like a competitor to me) IMO he's not going to get back into this to bring a mediocre engine to the market. |
The Speed is a great engine no doubt, I have ran many myself.
But until you've seen or ran one, dont be so quick to judge. The things we're working on for the next year I think will sway many opinions of who Tecno Power is :) |

Out with the old and in with the new. The TechnoPower B01 will be powering my Mugen Mbx6 in the Rc Pro Finals in Alvarodo Tx at the in of oct. Im going to start doing some testing next weekend at Mikes In Porter Tx and if anyone has any questions please feel free to pm me or post on this thread.
