The very next day we tried cleaning the motor out replacing the bearings, then tried to get it to run. Peter Martin from TKO bearings had I think both Joe and Ed on the phone trying to help. Needless to say the motor was toast. I can understand why as a sponsored driver they would not want you to post on here about motor related issues, as they are always there for you to call. I can say sometimes what you but in an email or post on this site, after the fact may not sound the way you meant it to sound as well. I have read all of what was Bryce has posted and although I don't think what he posted the first time sounded bad against the engine, but even he came back two posts later to state he was not unhappy about the motor just unhappy with losing the lead. So even Bryce though it might have sounded bad. This is why this stuff should be handled through your sponsor not on here. Anyone thinking about buying one of these motors please believe me when I tell you Ed, Peter Martin, or Joe will be there for you every steep of the way.

thanks Bill! you could call me on Christmas morning and i would find time to help. ;)

No one can answer that for you online. There are too many factors that can cause shortened run times. Bring it over to our pit tables at Dirt Burners this weekend and Aaron can get your tune straight.

yeah Tracy I know Arron can tune just about anything that has a nitro motor in it lol he helped me tune my Go with a Nova Carb on it...to be exact it was HIS nova carb on it lmao just trying to help get back on topic

sounds like you got it close, but i would try to richin the top and lean the bottom some, if you over lean the bottom the power will fade especially if you drive hard. also as you get it dialed in your run time will increase. Also you will pick up about a min in run time with ebmods fuel over byrons so if you confused as to why some of our team guys are reporting better run times then what your experiencing that is why. good luck and lmk how it goes.

Joe thanks for the clarification on runtime! I'm still happy with my JS. Great power through out the power band!

I am a current EB MODS team driver and am very honored to be. I have raced the "race prepped version" in truggy for 3 months and have around 4 gallons on it. Never flames out or changes tune to any drastic degree. I run a p4 and 086 pipe and is the only combo I recommend. At least here in Iowa. The plug I may change when it gets hot out. If I do I will then go to a p5. I have a freind that I sold one of these to used a os 2050 pipe and the motor was way off on tune. He didnt have an086 so I borrowed him a older mugen/grp fls pipe and it worked really well. So stick with what for the most part the team drivers recommend and you will be fine. One other note these motors in my experiance dont like to run real hot or lean on the top. But when tuned properly will run with any of them out there.
And as far as being a team driver think of it this way. If somebody was driving/sponsored for lets say "Lowes in Nascar" and decided to tell the public in an interview that he was very upset with the company for some aparent reason and he never told his sponsor. They found out about it thru a news source or something. What do you think that would be like? I also signed a contract with EBMODS and if I have a problem "which I havnt yet" I would contact Ed or Joe directly. Think of it this way. They are your PART TRIME boss for running there stuff. If you dont abide to there rules or in this case a contract then I guess your not a good fit. And they want a good team to represent there product no matter how good it is. If you decide to run a companys stuff under contract stick to it in a profesional way.
Well thats my 2 cents and if anyone wants to get ahold of me and get some tuning help or anything please feel free to contact me via email at [email protected]
Thanks, David Bradford

Well, between the 15th being the last day of tax season (my wife is an accountant) and it looks like we are done with the white stuff in the midwest (I work for a municipality south of chicago and plow in the winter time) I am going to the track friday with the new motors in both my Mugens!!!! Can't wait to run these motors! :D

I'm really excited to try the race prep in my Hot Bodies D8. A friend of mine runs these with an RE-10 and it screams down the straights. It's also been super reliable, no flame outs. I'll be switching from the JX Ninja.

bcarter007 04-12-2010 07:34 PM

I have been using the race prep engine now for three weeks and the engine is really good. I have been running a 2050 pipe on it, but will be switching to the 086 pipe very soon. The engine has been running very strong, getting good run time and staying pretty cool. I just ran a 30 minute main indoors and it came off at 216.

Trevor Williams 04-12-2010 08:47 PM

congrats on your TQ/win Matt @ the Missouri state ProSeries rd1!!!.... I got my race prep in truck bro, it's good so far, was leading Saturdays race and truck broke :( cya soon bud ;)

Matt Gosch 04-12-2010 08:56 PM

Thanks Trevor, stuff was real good all weekend. Get those breaking issues fixed and win the dang main next time, GOSH! You'll like the new engines.
