Thanks Ray,

Look forward to getting the P&S back and putting new life in that old mill. Once I get it all rebroke in it'll make for a perfect practice/club race mill or a solid backup.

Ray handcraft - works of art IMHO

Hi guys
Wow - i was not aware of this thread. You sure are giving some detailed info regarding shipment etc. here Ray my friend ;)

Not that i have ever had the use or more info. I have had the pleasure of beeing Rays representative here in Denmark for - hell -i think its the 4th year now. And sleeves just come back to me as clockwork. It must be more than 100 till now.

As this thread clearly shows, Ray is THE MAN when it comes to resizing nitro sleeves. It is a pleasure to get a sleeve back from Ray - not only to the wanted tolerance of course, but also if needed honed and polished.

But the main thing about Ray is, that he knows exactly what you are talking about when it comes to special problems, or specific needs for a specific engine. Let me give you a couple of examples:

The CEN GST 7.7 is a big MF. Ray would normally just give these babies a loose fit - otherwise you simply could not turn the engine around because of the sheere size of the thing. But loose fit is just a tiny bit too loose if you know what i mean. So you just tell Ray to give it just a litle bit more than loose - not as tight as medium - and then it runs like a sewing machine after normal breaking in...Nobody else to my knowledge, can do this with this sleeve.

Another example: i have had like 5 or 6 of the Novarossi Plus 4 .21 FT engines that have all lost compression from one second to another. Reaching like 140 degrees C and POW - no compression. I dont know if we have just been unlucky with a shipment of poor quality sleeves to the Danish importer - but i have heard the same story from a couple of other guys in the business, about this engine.

I explained the situation to Ray an asked him to try to do one of mine a bit more than medium. Not only did Ray do that of course, but he also moved the point at which the conical narrowing started - moved it a bit down.
I did some testing on this particular engine after Ray had done his magic - and i had it all the way up to 160 degrees C - without loosing its compression.

What i am trying to say is that Ray surely knows his stuff and i can guarantee you that i will stay a dedicate and loyal customer or a long as i can take a nitro engine apart. BTW - i am almost 55 now - so it might not be that long after all

Keep up the great work my friend - and all the best from Mikkel as well.

Niels Vangsoe - Nitromekanikerendotdk - Denmark

Very funny how that works. He did a motor awhile back for me and it's on its 6th gallon after resizing with great compression still. Thats a total of 12 gallons or so (I lost track) on the same Rod, Piston and sleeve. It ran better after a pinch than it did new. Ray, thanks again. Love your service.

Monty,
Once I get thru the inspections all the sets, damages of any kind identified, and know my surface finish conditions are acceptable....The extra time to putting new designed fitment "per your request" is no trouble at all. After-all, you are in the "OVER 100 SETS SERVICED CLUB" right along with Niels from Denmark above post :nod: And back at you with the both the Fusion X7 ran last year and Fusion Extreme X3 I will be running this year. :) Thank You Friend The X7 is one sweet engine

Niels,
Again, Thank you for the great feed back/experience of last 4 plus years and over 100 piston + sleeve sets reconditioned-resized. Thank You Friend!!!

Lenny,
Thank You also for your feedback/experience running RayAracing reconditioned-resized piston + sleeve sets. 12 gallons is GREAT but sure is pushing the envelope on any engine without changing bearings, conrod, or any other parts. LOL, Tim has 11 gallons on his P5 with only replacing bearings at 5 gallon mark, and is as reliable and fast any engine we have between us at this time....go figure  And I got a call just yesturday from Steve A (Litle Rock, AR) that confirmed ( double WOW) gallons on his werks B5 after serviced here. We'll let him mention the number of gallons if he so chooses.:nod: See you & your son on the Western New York and Canadian tracks soon enough Lenny ;)

Rsickles,
Thanks for the update on the OS XZ Speed. My experience has been that reconditioned-resized OS engine models do perform well. I'll have to pull your invoice because now I'm curious as to the new designed fit you requested :( my memory just ain't what it was last week, LOL

used b6

Just got my b6 that I bought used running last night. Had a hard time getting temps above 180. I can tell its going to be strong tho, thanks to Rays resizing. It was a basket case when I bought it and its a practice engine for me as its my first .21. Its probably had a hard life but it has a good home with me. Have a total of $153 invested in this engine and a 2058 pipe so I think I made a good deal. Was worried at first tho when I had to beat the piston out of the sleeve. You did a great job with it Ray and I thank you. I'll be back...:nod:. take care.... Shane

Incredible service!

Ray,

Thanks for the insanely quick service for my Novarossi Toro Nero. I sent you a sleeve out early in the week from the Midwest and by week’s end it was back in my engine ready for fuel.

I was sweating it a little bit because while doing a preventative maintenance of changing out a rod, I noticed that I no longer had any mechanical pinch left. I found this out about a week before a big race for me, Outlaw Nitro Series for 1/8 gas LM here in the Midwest. This was the first race in the series and would set the tone for the rest of the series.

With you phenomenal service I was able to put my favorite mill back in my car and take the "A" main win(missed TQ by .1 sec...damn it)

Thanks for the quality work!

Sincerely,

basket case b6

Just an update Ray, I sent you a p/s from a b6 that was seized when I got it. It was missing carb pinch bolt, etc... Anyway, come to find out, it has an Orion carb on it.lol... I got it running and about 3/4 to a gallon later It still has a hint of mechanical pinch. I'm amazed at how well this thing runs and idols considering what it was and what it is. Its a monster! I have about $160 invested with a 2058 pipe and your pinch service so I think I'm getting a pretty good bang for my buck. Your p/s service is top notch and I would recomend you anytime. I ordered a clocked b6 pro, so my current b6 will get a rest for a while. Thanks again Ray!
Shane...

megasaxon 05-20-2012 08:40 PM

Ray i'll have a p/s/r set coming your way by the beginning of next week. had some running issues with my p5xlt this weekend and found the compression to be a bit less than satisfactory(along with a bad front bearing) I know Mark Smith was having you do a lot of resizing for his customers and since he built my engines, i figured you must be doing good work!

Whats your usual turn around time, couple business days?

Great things worked out. Ray, that Arrow GTR that was in the bump up spot in buggy B-main at Glenwood was a RayA racing reserviced sleeve as well. Too bad a drive shaft cost me the race :(

Just wanted to say thanks again to Ray. I had two damaged P/S sets that I sent off to Ray and he fixed them up right.. Both engines run great now, especially considering I had written one of them off, and just sent the P/S set on a whim. Thanks again.

Quality service that was quick.

I've also recently received a P\S set back for my Reedy 121vr and I must say that it looked awesome out of the envelope. Engine pinch was nicely done with a great light hone on the sleeve. Couldn't be happier with the way it runs after only 2 tanks of fuel.
