Thanks for the suggestions, I actually ended up getting a new P/S. The engine runs fine now.

What are people's feedbacks on the new EVO3s? I have mine for a couple of weeks now and it's finally (fully) broken in. The engine is really fast and the new low CG design makes my RRR looks even lower. Never ran it against eachother, but I think my EVO 3 (3-port) is faster than my EVO 2 (5-port).

You might get the old P/S set resized if it's not it too bad of condition (no missing chrome plating or deep scratches.) That way, you'll have a almost new set when your current one wears down.

is idt true that these sirio engines dont last long????

jdmm72 07-28-2005 07:03 AM

I think they last long if you treat them right. The pinch on them is incredible when you first get them. It is important to heat them up when you first start running them, to keep from stressing the con-rod out.

What glow plug are people using for the EVO3, been using sirio ,but they have been blowing.
Anyone use something else? or was i just unlucky with the plugs.

Sirio goose - I used a Sirio #7 in Texas at the Nats (only ran 20% fuel). Mostly use a Sirio #7 unless you are using 30% in 90+ degree weather - then use a Sirio #8.....

MikeBtc3 - The origional Sirio engines did have wear issues but that has been completely sorted now. I've run the same engine at the Worlds, a local club race and all of the ROAR Nationals - approx 5+ hours of use and the pinch is still tight enough to push the sleeve out of the case when you turn it over with the head off!!!

Thanks Josh i will give them a go..

Evo 3

Any feedback on the new Evo3s out there? Of the 5 engines between mine and guys from the local track, here is what I observed thus far:

1. It generally runs hot. It's not unusual to have it come back at 270-280 without overheating.

2. One of the five had a crank that broke in half

3. One had a bad carb right out of the box but is running fine with a Nova carb now.

4. My carb needle is slightly bent and won't operate smoothly. I replaced it with an old Evo2 carb and it's running okay.

5. After 2 gallons of fuel the engine still pinchs at TDC when cold.

6. Power is just okay for bottom and mid range but absolutely flies on the top end. I love chasing people down on the straight!!!

I think this is the best engine for the money or any money. Hopefully the quality problems goes away after the initial batch.

Anyone else care to share their experience?

Evo 3 broken cranks

Hey Josh,
Just ran the Quensland state championships next years worlds venue.
Ran 2 evo 3 engines both less than a meeting old. Both Snapped engine cranks in half in the exct same spot near carby.
Both engines were absolutely flying.one in a qualifier and the other in the semi.
Sirio have not acknowledged that there is a problem with the evo 3.

I now have 3 Sirio engines with snapped cranks including the worlds edition.
The Sirio evo 3 is an awsome engine and hopefully this little problem will be sorted.

Your thoughts.

i have a 12 TUP evo 2 engine....felt i was loosing compression on the piston... so got my self a AAC piston from the 12 tup version. 5 port. The guy at the LHS said it would fit since the dimensions on it were the same as to the normal one and the ports were okay aswell.

They were also similar to the M. Collari pistons that was with this guy. It seems like most of them are of the same dimensions.

anyone ?

Hey guys thanks for all the input - lucky for me my hotel was on Soy Street - this street is next door to Kwong wah - so got a lot of stuff from there. Harmony Models - wing jets stocks almost all of the RRR requirements etc. etc.

Few other shops were for Mini-Z loveers......

and yes quite a few of them are WAR GAMES shops..

Sirio Crank in EVO3

Kickass........ I had a crank in my ten tank evo3 break in the crank tunnel as well. I'm wondering what Sirio will do about my $200.00 + paperweight??
