I think E meand efra and I ifmar..........so the crankshaft bore is probably bigger in the ifmar version because ifmar doesn't put any restriction to this measure in their rules.........

Has anyone else run an EVO 3 with the Sirio pipe here? I have been running a new EVO 3 in with the Sirio pipe on it and it just seems to run hard and happy at 110-115 Deg C. If you try to lean it off some more to get it up to the likes of 130 deg it just runs out of fuel in the top end. I did read on the Sirio site forum that the pipe makes them run cooler but i never ever thought it would be around 15 Deg C. Has anyone else discovered this?

What does "STI" mean, it is the same logo as used by Subaru where it stands for: "Subaru Tecnica International" What is the link?
Did STI help develop this engine!!?

They go for about $245US on RC-Mushroom, or you could go for a Murnan modified one :sneaky:

Racing4Evo 02-04-2006 08:24 PM

I was thinking the same thing about the STI logo. At first I thought it was mere coincidence but then the Subaru STI logo is exactly the same design.

Yeah, I'm wondering about that too :sneaky:
By the way, from where did you get that picture?

After 7 gallons on my first Sirio Kanai 1, it finally gave out. Only regret about it is that it happened during the A main of the 2006 Nitro Explosion in Dallas Texas at Speed Racers Hobby. Do have to say, till it went it was running only at 230 and screaming.

Due to bad picture and a better one take and posted below, I removed this image.

Dude i have never seen a conrod rod or piston that colour. What oil are you using and what % oil?

The conrod is actually has a goldish color, it actually wipes off, the light I used is bad where I took the picture, that is why it looks spotted(looking straight on it only has a slight gold tint). For the piston and the dark area, the piston is slightly burnt only at the exhaust port area of the piston from the original sirio pipe I had with the plastic coupling piece that leaked and cause cool air to hit the piston while at TDC during the run. The fuel I run has 8% oil in it, not sure which oil is used but it is very good quality in my opinion.

Keep in mind, 7 gallons out of a motor while I rarely used after run oil, right after breaking it in it reached 300 twice due to lack of experience tuning nitro engines, and I have only went through I think a total of 5 plugs in it.

Slo-MTX4 02-06-2006 10:58 PM

I suppose after i convert it from gallons back to litres then yes it is a fair bit. Looks almost black in the pics.

T. Thomas 02-07-2006 05:47 AM

yea, 7 gallons = 26.5 liters. The picture doesn't really show the true color. The picture I took of it with good light looked as if was light mirrored back at the camera. Here is a more accurate photo of how it looks, took me a while to get the light right.

ChApS 02-08-2006 12:32 AM

Any specs on the new sirio.?

tunnelhead 03-03-2006 09:52 PM

need some help from you guys. About a year ago I bought a Sirio Kani EVO 2 motor .21 I havent found much info on it. I was looking for breakin precedures and needle settings, glow plug. Using non turbo head button. Is it worth switching to the turbo style plugs? What Fuel would you recommend? I really like White lightening. BUT I think 8% oil is not enough. More like 12%?I live on the central coast of Cali

I know this is asking alot but I greatly appreciate it! Phil

Nova Carb on Evo 3

Have any of you guys tried using a Novarossi Carb on a Sirio Evo 3? Im having a few problems trying to get the Sirio Carb to fit and function cerrectly in my MTX4. It's a very tight fit. I've had to dremel a little from the carby under the midrange needle so not to touch the brake disc and also, the slide hits either the top deck or the fuel tank when the throttle is at around 3/4 open. Also, the rubber boot on the slide gets caught on the topdeck when i open the throttle :flaming: :flaming: :flaming:

Slo-MTX4 03-06-2006 04:27 AM

All i did was turn the carby so that the idle adjusting part of the carby is hard up against the crank case. I had to dremel some of the top deck away so that it didnt hit and make sure the ball is straight up and down. it goes very close to the brake but doesnt hit.

Slo-MTX4

Hi Slo, I saw your equipment on your sig. I was wondering any particular reason why you have your JP on the Mtx3 and the Sirio on your Mtx4?

Which one is the better engine for you?

thanks. :D

Slo-MTX4 03-06-2006 03:03 PM

Hi Hammer,
The JP is in the 3 cause that is now my club racing car and my RB died last year. I have just come back from the pre worlds and i can tell you that the Evo 3 was just awsome. The JP doesnt seem to rev as hard or have the top end power. The Evo 3 is awsome all through the rev range it doesnt seem to struggle anywhere. The JP can be a bit touchy on the tuning side of things where as the Evo 3 is very easy and keeps a tune really well. I just love the Evo 3, when i was at the pre worlds cause i had a bit of a shocker i would let guys pass when we were coming onto the back striaght and by the end i was having to back off really early because i was catching them which was a bit annoying cause i shouldnt have been in that situation but i missed 6 practise sessions which put me behind. Anyway i would reccomend this engine to anyone just make sure you have the new revision crank.

Cheers Daniel

That's awesome to hear Daniel. And you put it in words quite well too as I was clearly visualizing the situation you found yourself in. :)

I just got one myself and I was wondering as to how will I know if I have the new revision crank? It is a marking on the box? Can I see it if i open the engine up?

Thanks so much for your anecdote. It made me very happy with my purchase!

Slo-MTX4 03-06-2006 09:29 PM

My pleasure. Unfortunatly unless you saw the older crank it would be a bit hard to tell. The new crank has thicker walls around the intake. As far as i know unless where you brought it from has old stock you should have a new one as i just recently brought a new one and it has a new crank in it and Australia is a bit behind everyone else when it comes to getting revisions on just about everything. They are very tight in the beginning and dont tend to free up for a few litres, but once they do hang on to your hat my friend. Oh yeah and not trying brag or anything but i ran both my Sirio's on the safe side (read a bit rich, temp 110-115 deg C) and they still had heaps of punch. But do take your time and run it in properly as you probably know this is the key to a long lasting engine.

Cheers Daniel

Thank god for that does that mean we can get our motors back after 1 year worth of waiting and trying to find out what is going on :flaming: So who are these new people? When will they take over and do they have conact details?

Stay tuned. There might be a last ditch bid from a rival company to get the distribution rights. The fellow i spoke to was 99% sure he has got it as he has a order arriving shortly. If he gets the distribution rights, he told me that he will definately sort out any issues that occured in the past and promptly. Lets wait and see what pans out.

Kyosho3PKRacer 03-07-2006 04:18 AM

Its not Alex Koussas is it?

Slo-MTX4 03-07-2006 04:51 AM

From what i understand Sauberman is the distributor and he hasnt mentioned anything about giving it up anytime soon.

Kyosho3PKRacer 03-07-2006 08:01 AM

Matt, is your old man going for it??

Slo-MTX4 03-07-2006 03:37 PM

So Andrew is getting out of it? Probably explians why he has no Evo 3 cranks then.

Kyosho3PKRacer 03-07-2006 04:40 PM

We were looking at it but there was alot of crap going on about selling it and not selling it and who else wanted it.

We are with Collari now which from what i've seen with Luis Sola's xs200 are quite quick. Just waiting on my mod one

Grinder 03-09-2006 11:46 AM

wyl03 03-09-2006 04:19 PM
