Im not sure of the number of turns but I would guess about two turns on the bottom in and about one to one and a half on top.

Thanks, Aaron I think I am getting pretty close to those settings.

No problem Allen. I don't know if you have read the JL .21 thread, but you can pull a shim out of the Killer 9 (JL .21 & Killer 9 share the same internals)since it is so overshimmed from the factory. It is coming shimmed at .8 -.9 with four shims, after break in you might want to pull a shim out to lower compression and make a little more power. I will be running my Killer less one shim this weekend at a well heated indoor track to see how it goes.

Backplate?
Anybody got a spare backplate/parts motor they can sell me? I need one for a LG2 C6. I think most of the late model plates will work WS7,S7,S5 ect. Thanks

It doesn't have to be a L2G. You can use a C5 or C6, not sure but I think the C4 is the same also. |

Aaron,
The instructions said to add a shim if running 30% fuel. I added a .1 shim prior to break-in. So I need to take that shim out and one more stock shim, right? Allen Bell |
Yes, I was told you can safely pull one shim and be ok with 30%. The engine is set with a very low compression ratio from the factory. If you don't want to risk it I will be trying it this weekend and will post back what I find.

Pulling shims out of an engine can really help the performance as well as steady out an erratic idle. It is VERY important that after pulling shims out you remove the glow plug after a run and check the top of your piston. If you see any tiny pit marks on the top of the piston you need to put that shim back, even if that's the best your engine has ever ran you need to put it back. That is a sure sign of pre-detonation and continued use like that will eventually kill your engine.
