I gotta give a big thanks to Rex at RW-mods, I ordered my first Argus engine from him on monday evening including him lapping it in for me and he shipped it out tuesday morning. I was not expecting this quick of service in fact I planned to use my old motor for the opening round of the JBRL this past weekend but with him shipping the engine so quickly I got it thursday after work and started breakin right away. This was my first time having an engine lapped in and I gotta say I will have this done every time no doubt it made breakin so much easier. Anyways I put about 8-10 tanks of fuel through it and about 5 heat cycles and the engine was running in great on the stock plug. I then pulled out the engine cleaned everything up and put it back together to head to California at 6am Friday morning. When I got to the track practice was just starting so I ran some practice and the engine felt good even rich. I had forgotten Rex suggested putting in a better plug after breakin so after first practice I put in a nova plug and started to tune it in. This Argus D52 matched with my 0801 pipe is a great setup, it not only had great power bottom to top but it was super smooth power and was great on the slick track surface. The engine has very little time on it still at under a half gallon but it was so impressive how it just ran with no head aches what so ever, it was nice and snappy with great rpm in fact I was one of only a hand full of pro's jumping the massive step down tripple. I was able to qualify only 2 seconds out of the amain in a stacked field of pro drivers and only 15 seconds off of the TQ set by Adam Drake. Again Thank you Rex you where right on these Argus engines are top notch.

A52 .23
I have the Argus a 52 .23 i have put in 1000 cc so far doing my break in. I had Rex hand lapped it for me. I think this engine is going to be great. i started to lean out the hs and ls but im still very rich on top and on the bottom. i was able to keep this in the 230f to 250f temp all day long with the head wrapped. I did this with out the break in shim with pre heating the engine to 240f before start up. I am using 25% vp fuel with 11% oil and a little extra caster added. I have the tb-1 pipe i with the 7.5 stinger on it. i think this is gonna be a killer combo with it still not at a semi race tune it still pulling my truggy around just a little trouble taking of for now. still have not hit full pull yet. That will be coming soon after i get a little more of a race tune on the bottom. I would say if you thinking of this combo grab it seem to being going great for me so far in my hotbodies d8t. My track is still under construction right now so hopefully they will have it together soon and i can go race other wise im gonna drop it nuts of in an open baseball field somewhere. Rex also had this shipped out to me very quickly so
Thank you Rex |
