Ok I don't undertsand how they could design a whole new carb that doesn't work like any other on the market and then go and put the idle needle on the wrong side. I know it won't effect performance of the engine in any way what so ever but it is a pain.

other than that its a top looking engine

AlanHall 01-04-2009 08:24 PM

what do you mean? besides the base the carb looks normal to me?

Rocket42 01-04-2009 08:28 PM

The base is what I meant sorry, it doesn't go into the block like any other carb I am sure it works like every other carb as far as slide and needles

i agree with the f*** idle needle what a pain in the ass

AlanHall 01-05-2009 09:08 AM

i dont see whats so crazy about the idle needle?

+1....... I think it would be easier having the needle on that side of the carb since all the other adjustments are that side. I am sure once we get the enging that won't be a problem. Maybe Rick or Brent can chime in on the engine.

Seen it in person and from the questions i have asked to a specific driver he really likes it. Very linear power with good bottom end (no jumpy bits whilst going through the rev range) and a good fuel economy. 11mins they were doing and the engine wasn't lean at all (nice smoke trail everywhere). Definetly a engine to keep a eye on

I know Thunder Tiger makes this engine, any one know who is making the O'donnell.

I was told as soon as they can get over 7min on a tank of fuel

Ultraspeed84 01-19-2009 04:34 PM

there still trying stuff with the motor from what i heard.. they are trying to get run time up to par with some of the other motors...

SPARTAN300gt 01-19-2009 04:36 PM

id rather they didnt just rush it to get it out on the market but if it isnt out by april ill have to find something else:(

jamminnay 01-19-2009 04:59 PM

i agree... i heard they are still testing different combinations trying to find the best one

SPARTAN300gt 01-19-2009 05:01 PM

actually i hope other manufacturers pic up the bolted carb desighn i really like that

yeah that is an awesome idea for sure

Kevin Boyle 01-19-2009 08:12 PM

I think the REEDY engine will be fine with the fuel. I know Rick said he could go the distance, so do not worry.

As for the release date I think we are looking at least another month or two. As some of you had posted AE/REEDY should not rush the engine and I am sure they will not. Their track record for putting out good products is top notch and they will not rush such important product.

just my 2 cents

Thanks

not 100% sure, but looks picco-ish, minus the new carb set up, any info on it's base Kevin, picco based looks like i may be wrong, back plate and motor mounts look familiar.

Made in Taiwan by Thunder Tiger.:nod::nod:
i already make a test before,it's awesome.

how does everyone know they are only getting 7 minutes? i have never seen that posted or stated. there are many variables that factor in to fuel mileage

I think the guys are going back to the Worlds and the fuel mileage that they saw from Ryan M. REEDY Engine.

The problem is that the race was bak in September and the Team has been doing a ton of R & D. I am sure the King , Ryan, Brent , and Rick have al been testing different things to bring us the best engine out there.

I also know that IFMAR rules are different when it comes to the size of the tank. I am sure Ryan can go longer than 7 minutes now.

Ryan is great driver and to do so well with a new engine at the Worlds was awsome.

Just hang in there guys it will be worth the wait.

Dont believe the fuel mileage excuses. The motor can go 11 minutes, i have seen saxton do it a few times.

I live in Arizona and see the motor run two times a week. The motor just wont run in STOCK trim like the motors they want it to run like. In Richard Saxton trim it might go 11min. I am not saying the motor is going to be bad, because it's not. Just before you run out and get one, let some one else try it first.

t0adman 01-20-2009 04:05 PM

Good plan. Okay, I'll try it first.

Wouldnt that also be good advice before you start saying what it can and cant do?

LMMFAO..................oh god i'm still laughing, thanks man that caught me off gaurd!!!!

this is one engine i'm keen to have a run with, and if they take there time to release it cos they want to get it right then happy days to Reedy for making the effort to get it right.

besides i would rather read "when is it coming out" than "Reedy recall engines"

yeah i do not think that the king has special super powers for tuning! lol

i cannot wait for it to come out

Kevin Boyle 01-23-2009 09:55 AM

something to think about

Hey Guys,

I think we are all hoping for the same thing and that is a dependable engine that does not break the bank.

I have seen the Worlds DVD and Brent knew what fuel stops he needed for Ryan M. because of his driving style. Also if you also look at the gearing that Ryan M. used you will see that the 16/46 gives a ton of punch. The punch that Ryan likes on his RC8 might not be the feel you and I want with our RC8. With that being said the engine might get better fuel milage than we saw at the Worlds. This in no means takes anything away from Ryan M. , I wish I could drive half as good he does in his sleep LOL.

I also know that the Team has made some changes from the Worlds to allow the engine to tune easier. There is more but that is all I am saying.

My point is this do not judge the engine on one driver judge it on the name that Reedy has built over the years.

Weekend Recap

Hey Guys,

As most of you know the Midwest Nitro Championship race was held this past weekend and the Reedy engine did a great job with several new racers using it in their Buggies an Truggies.

The Reedy engine powered 3 drivers into the A Main in Buggy and 2 into the A Main of Truggy.

Ryan Maifield finished 2nd in both classes with his Reedy powered RC8/RC8T
J.R. Mitch finished 7th in both classes with his Reedy powered RC8/RC8T

And AE top Race Reporter and Team Manager Brent Thielke finished 9th in the Buggy A main with his Reedy powered RC8.

I hope this is a sign that engine can run withe the big boyz and that it will be released soon

Information will be released this week!

PTP Racing 01-27-2009 10:42 AM

Maifield said in his interview on liverc.com that he ran production engines and that he expected them to be available around March. I forget how long he said he was getting per tank but it wasnt bad at all. He said it was very smooth and powerful and compared it to the OS Speed.

Someone I know who was at the race said Maifield is strapped everywhere and constantly ripping the throttle and Tebo was so smooth you couldnt even hear his engine run. I dont think they pitted that far apart.
