Me too... It is very apparent the slight taper is taken off the outer edge of the combustion chamber. Surely there is more magic than that but you can "see" it..

Running the EB head button, should I play with gasket thicknesses at all? What would I gain/loose if anything?

It's funny how you guys seem to think you can see it, but i have seen even Ed grab calipers to tell the difference. So idk maybe you guys have some super vision.

No !Do NOT play with shims at all. you'll either lose power or blow up your engine.

if you feel the top of the button at the same time as the stock you can feel a slight edge to the stock vs the eb..other than that i had to take the calipers out...expecilly to make sure wat i was feeling right..and to cheak the squash

I don't think I would like to spending hours sorting stock buttons vs. Ed's, as my brain would explode. but I could see it, I think. lol!

So just verify I have a .004" shim in there and call it perfect yes?

Thanks!

Simply put, stock O.S. head buttons have very little squish band area. The EB button has the taper milled away, similar to Novarossi head buttons. By doing this, the head button now sits further away from the piston. Ed supplies the correct gasket to bring the head button closer and obtain the correct clearance with larger, more effective squish. If you taken plenty of O.S. engines apart, you would be able to know what is different, but then again, most people can't tell if head shims are installed or not.
