Yes, the EFRA 2042 is the OS T-2060 pipe. I have seen that in Japan, its offered with the round header or square header like the older 2050 pipeset came with. EB mods pipe is the EFRA 2041. Same as Mielke pipe or the Reckward Tuning pipeset, just not coated.

I actually ran it with the MSR1005 pipe and header. This pipe makes very good mid-top but a little softer on the bottom. I'm going up to EB Mods perhaps next week to throw the JX-21 on the X-dyno to see how she runs with a few pipes. Ed has the 2050, 2060 and his EB Mods pipe. I have the MSR1005 and Novarossi 9853. I'm also going to test it with the Innovative Designs 6mm and 7mm carb inserts.

Just ordered a JX21, and I'm wondering how you guys who have come from the GRP manufactured B01/B01A's from old are finding the new motor, comparitively speaking..

I found the JX-21 to be easier to break in and get a tune on it. It has better bottom-end. GRP is a bit smoother. Run time and top end is too early to compare.

So far the JX has been a top engine here in Aus ,been able to get runtime pretty easy even on the larger tracks around the area by running 7mm restrictor and dialing the endpoint back 2mm (25% nitro) usually come in with 1/16th of a tank left :nod::nod: the thing has power every wear :D and lacks nothing to the Speeds, RB, Sirio's or Nova's
as for the B01A's i was running them until the new JX engine came out and they were a good engine but lacked bottom end power if you tryed to get run time :( i was able to get good bottom end if i ran the carby fully open and 7mm restrictor but the run time was around the 9min mark , most of the club runners are still happy to run the B01a's as the power is smooth and the tune is rock solid for the average tuner.. But i wouldn't trade my JX for anything now :nod: |
Interesting stuff, thanks for the comments guys. I've been running a tuned GRP .21 for most of this year so far, but I fancied trying the JX21 after it did so well in Savoya's hands. In fairness I love my GRP, its a belting motor but your comments make me think positively so we'll see next week :D

What pipe & plugs are you running Mick? Im off the grp now, was goin to go back to the boss. What price are we looking at for a new ninja with pipe?

Andrew , running the P3 plugs and the standard JX Ninja pipe , as for price i would say they will be more than the Boss line .. The pipes are about $50 dearer than the FLS grp pipes which are one tough pipe ..
Prices just had a look at Online hobbies and the JX is $450 plus pipe , becomes a dear engine but the internal parts are some what cheaper than the GRP's , worked it out a while ago there was only $5 between them if you bought the same parts (engine,pipe,manifold,plugs,rod,clips) Wasn't an easy decision which way to go as they are both great engines but i think the JX has a slight advantage ,only my 0.02c Mick |
What manifold are you running with the 2042? The L or the C shaped one? Whats it like to tune? Did it come with the 7mm venturi? Only 16 questions left :D

been running the "L " Manifold , it comes with a 8mm restrictor , but i have only been running the 7mm from the B01a fits fine :D No issues with tune :D
The Grp Tuned that is in my truggy has also been easy to tune as well set and forget as well :eek::eek: didn't touch the tune all weekend at the Qlds and that included the night racing as well :nod: |
That wasnt my experience with mine, a fly could fart and the tune would change. I broke in another the other day and its was fine :weird: Any idea on the difference of the L & C shaped manifold.
